Arthur W. Gilbert sends us a remarkable family account of eight men who went to Dartmouth, all Gilberts and all his close connections. The founder of the Gilbert family in Vermont was Isaac Gilbert, whose brother Enos, according to family records, died while a student at Dartmouth in 1828, although the College does not record his matriculation date. There was a son, Oliver Cheney Gilbert, and then a grandson, George Holley Gilbert Sr., class of 1878, and four great-grandsons: George Jr. '14, Wilfred '14, Arthur '21, and Frank '32.

The following generation had a great- great-grandson, Neal '48, and after him came two great-great-great grandsons, Geoffrey '70 and Peter '76.

The account adds to the list autobio- graphical stories written by some of these Dartmouth men while they were in college. Anyone interested in this kind of history should write to Arthur, Route 1, Box 923, Dorset, VT 05251-9709. It is impressive!
