Ted Johanson has been elected a member of Guy Gannett Publishing Company's eightmember board of directors. Ted, who resides in Brunswick, Maine, is president and chief executive officer of Falcon Shoe Manufacturing Company of Lewiston, a company he founded in 1963. Falcon produces a broad line of boys' footwear for private-label customers throughout the U.S., Canada, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. A father of two children, Ted also serves as trustee of the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and is a director of the Shoe and Allied Trades Research Association based in Ontario, Canada. Congratulations, Ted!

I received a brief note from Scott Palmer from his Arlington, Va., address. Scott and his wife Sally have three sons and have their sights set on getting back to New England at some point after having worked for four years in the Washington, D.C., area.

Joe Nadeau reports that he is practicing law in a three-man law office which he founded in 1971 in Dover, N.H. He is engaged in the general practice of law, primarily in the area of civil litigation. "I had the good fortune to be good friends with, and campaign for, former governor John W. King, who appointed me justice of the Durham District Court in 1968. I have enjoyed this part-time judicial position immensely because it has given me an opportunity to look at our system of justice from a different perspective. I have been active in judicial education in New Hampshire and throughout the country, and I am currently on the faculty of the American Academy of Judicial Education." Joe lives with his wife Catherine on the banks of the Oyster River in Durham together with their 17-year-old daughter Tina, 13-year-old daughter Diana, and a recent addition, Briana, who is 10-months old. "During our short summers, I try to catch bass in Great Bay and blue fish at the Isles of Shoals. In the long, cold winters, it's back to tennis and racketball. I have enjoyed being active in the Seacoast Dartmouth Club and interviewing applicants for Dartmouth." Thanks for the update, Joe.

Norris Nims notes that he is still residing in the same Copper Center, Alaska, mountain valley where he and his family have been located for the past ten years. "I am still working one week on and one week off for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company at Pump Station 12 which is two miles from our house. My boys and I prospect on my off week in the summers and have discovered a most useful conveyance for our gear, namely the horse!"

Dave Marshall, from Pittsford, N.Y. (near Rochester), writes that he is the proud father of a baby girl, Caroline Andrews, who is fast approaching her first birthday. "She joins three teenage siblings and two aging parents!" Dave is a vice president/general manager with Mobil Chemical Company.

A press release from Homequity, in Wilton, Conn., announces a promotion for Ted Robinson who has been named to a new post of manager, community affairs. Homequity is the nation's largest company specializing in relocation management services. Ted will be responsible for increasing public awareness of the company's role and responsibilities in the communities in which the firm operates. He joined Homequity in 1968 after being with Marshall Field & Company in Chicago and, prior to that, with Bankers Trust Company in New York. At Homequity, Ted has held various real estate operations, client relations, and executive staff positions. In addition to being president of the Dartmouth Association of Fairfield County, Ted has been active in other community groups including the United Way. Well done, Ted!

Our class president, Jack Nason, plans to meet with the executive committee shortly to discuss a number of class matters, including the strategy for the 1981 Alumni Fund campaign. More on this later.

Another '59 author has surfaced: Charles Plummer has co-authored a new text book for college-level courses in physical geology, entitled Physical Geology. Charles teaches geology at California State University in Sacramento. Hope it is a best seller!

I am pleased to provide a personal report on John Ferries and his attractive family who are now residing in Brussels. The Long family enjoyed a pleasant evening recently with John and Donna and their three children, Alex, Jason, and Karen. John is currently managing director of Benton & Bowles International and was most enthusiastic about the exciting challenges of the international business world.
