CLOSE decisions continue to plague the men's hockey team, which is not likely to repeat last year's third-place finish in the N.C.A.A. championships. Heading into the final month of play, the Big Green lost 5-4 to Yale, 2-1 to Boston College, and 6-5 to Providence. The one-goal losses dropped its overall record to 6-12. The team had a 4-10 mark in the E.C.A.C. and a 3-1 record in the Ivy League. "We had the good goaltending against 8.C., but didn't score enough. Against Providence we scored enough, but [goaltender] Bobby Gaudet couldn't seem to get into the game," said coach George Crowe. "This sure isn't a 4-10 hockey team."
