Word was received on April 5 that Paul Rothery died peacefully on the morning of March 26 at his home in Naples, his residence for the past 14 years. An obituary will appear in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. The College was notified of the death of Mrs. Frederick L. Pearce in Chevy Chase, Md.
Thanks again to Chink Chamberlain, we have some notes from a few classmates. Bill English '4l writes that his dad Adolphe English and his mother have moved to Woodland Rest Home, 3584 E. Main Street, Waterbury, Conn. 06705. They both get around farily well but need more attention than they can give each other. ArtSterling "recently took a Caribbean cruise from Miami on a Norwegian ship visiting Cozumel, Mexico, Grand Cayman, and Ocho Rios, Jamaica best regards." Herb Potter's wife writes, "I hardly know what to tell you about Herb's location. He was home for three months, then back at Rest Haven for a month. He is unhappy, even though it is the nicest nursing facility in El Paso. I would like to have him home with me if I could get competent help. He was thrilled to receive the pewter bowl from the College for 60 years of consecutive giving." Ralph Brown says, "We weathered the unusually cold winter at Riding Ridge Farm well. In addition to a number of dinner parties and other get-togethers with friends, we were fortunate in having a fine series of chamber music concerts in nearby Blue Hill, Have no travel plans for the immediate future but expect visits from our family in the summer."
Jack Johnson writes, "Alice and I are fine. Our oldest granddaughter Barbara's husband, Dr. D. A. Reid of Concord, Calif., is part of a team of mountain climbers on the American Everest Expedition to China. They will leave San Francisco August 7 and attempt to climb Mount Everest on the east face, from the China side, which has never been climbed before. The San Francisco Examiner is backing the expedition and it is endorsed by the city of San Francisco." Harry Ellms has "found a perfect cane an old golf putter. Use the blade as a handle and tip the other end with rubber. It is sturdy and keeps me on the straight and narrow." Cloughy has his reservation for the Upper Valley Dartmouth Club dinner May 13: Marion and I took in most of the indoor games this winter, and we are now looking forward to the fresh vegetables from her garden. Al Bull is back home in Wakefield after his long, cool stay in Lake Worth, Fla.
