Since my last pithy epistle, I am pleased to say I have received several choice morsels from which I can fabricate the following scandal sheet.

When we last saw our friend GlynneMildren, the grapevine in Oklahoma City had been buzzing about his marriage to Dianne, It was a March gig and there were more than a few broken hearts at the ceremony, among them Chris Wells's and Paul Krupka's; both had wanted Dianne's hand. After landing one of the finest ladies in the land, Glynne continued to amaze, us by taking on a responsible job, "searching for energies" with Regency Exploration. Glynne's search was successful, I suppose, as he and his betrothed are expecting a baby in May. His name, I presume, will be Buddy Teevens Mildren, and he will matriculate with the class of 2005; Pie Trainor '78 will be the godfather and will teach young Buddy how to win the Battle of the Bands with monotonous regularity.

I thank Julian Schmoke for his newsy note Julian was the best man in the wedding of Marlowe Hicks. Marlowe met his bride Julianna Griffin, while doing his graduate work at Georgia Tech. Marlowe got his master's in civil engineering and is currently working for Exxon in Singapore. Julianna, I presume, is learning how to cope with crowded streets and Singapore's bustling life-style.

Julian roomed with Marlowe before Julianna kicked him out; he received his master's in electrical engineering and is now working for R.C.A Labs in Princeton, N.J. (this is close to Lawrenceville, N.J., the site of a famous preparatory school). Lafayette Ford, who is working next door to the prestigious Inland Steel Building (over six million tons last year and they just added new capacity in the raw materials area ... oops, sorry) for the First National Bank of Chicago, stood up for Marlowe, along with Greg Jenkins (University of Michigan Law School), Laura Benjamin (Teacher Insurance Company, N.Y.C.) and Tommy Randolph '77 (that's some sentence!). Tommy, whom some of you may know, is in his final year of medical school. More importantly, however, Tommy, like myself, favored (and still does, I hope) low-cut black Converse All-Stars when he was at Dartmouth. Felix Lanier, who was also present, is now working in Chicago.

This afternoon I received my first "Feed Jane Fonda to the Whales" Christmas card. It was from my favorite physical therapist, MaryDeBoer. Mary's card was newsy but, frankly, quite boring. After several cups of coffee I realized that her stay at Northwestern University was quite brief (if she started in September, as I said she did), as she graduated October 1. Apologies and heartfelt regrets to Mary. Regrets mainly because she has been seen in the company of the Chicago Board of Trade's most dedicated punk rocker, Ed Baldridge. Ed would be a super kid, but he still prefers white high-cut Converse All-Stars. Tommy and I take exception.

In addition to news of her romance with Ed, Mary sent me several tidbits: Penny Breed was married to Dan Freihoffer '80 in Hanover last August. Also she told me (she obviously does not read this monthly masterpiece) that CarolKurtz married David Bates last August. Thanks, Mary. Cheers and Happy New Year.
