I am still reeling from the shock of having received a class newsletter from Mark Horton. Things must have been very slow that week at grad school, or maybe his buddy Megan was able to light a fire under him. Thank you for the update, Mark. I'll admit that I was crushed that you did not mention my own marriage, reports of which have been greatly exaggerated. I married Karim Anne Jacobus of Milwaukee. Much to the chagrin of my in-laws and the Milwaukee Athletic Club, several '78s and many '79s were in attendance. Unfortunately, Harvey Kuenn had another commitment, in St. Louis, and he was unable to attend.
Steve Talsness, I understand, is making money the old-fashioned way at a stock-brokerage firm in his hometown of Clearwater, Fla.
Several weeks ago while I was passing through O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, I was impatiently waiting for my flight when I spied a rather tall fellow. Since his calves were larger than his thighs, I quickly reasoned that this must be none other than Harvard's newest assistant basketball coach, Peter Roby. I was right. He had at his side a lovely young lady who was helping Peter make his business trip a more pleasant one. He insisted that she was a recruit.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Joe Henley married Kim Donovan; to the surprise of nearly everyone, Kim responded in kind and married Joe. They were married in Kim's hometown of Morristown, N.J.
Belated congratulations to Libby Roberts on her new job. Libby joined the staff of the Dartmouth Alumni Fund last summer. So when you get your pledge cards with a personalized admonishment to fork it over, you'll know who's behind it.
Another of our brethren has given law enforcement a try; Dean Esserman spent this past summer as special assistant to the director of the F.8.1. I understand that this was the first such post set up for a law student. Beware!
Jon Peabody's recent promotion to investment officer of the Harris Bank, Chicago, set world money markets on their ear (not to mention classmates). Jon and wife Lindsay live in Chicago.
Ed Jaicks, according to a Hanna Mining release, is now the European sales representative for that Cleveland-based natural resource concern. Since I have moved to Madison, Wise., I have had the .good luck to turn up Anne Cramer Hong and her husband Andy Hong. Both are doing graduate work at the University of Wisconsin, he in medicine and she in law.
Margie Robertson reports that Reporter Kelly will be graduating from Boston College Business School this spring. Also at B.C. (Law) are Don Keller and Dicky Daniels.
Matt Donovan is in Connecticut running a health spa and hoping that Bob Zinck does not come to visit him.
Bill Mitchell and bride are in N.Y.C.; Bill is working as an accountant, discovering, I'm sure, the beauty of the 12-hour work day.
Robin Ann Louis, who is working in New England for M.G.M., will soon marry Peter Henning Sayre from a lesser-known institution in New Haven, Conn.
Other nuptials: Proctor Reid recently was married to Ann Hutcheson. After a year in Germany as a Fulbright scholar, Proctor went on to the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, where he met his bride. They will reside in D.C.
