Bravo! Another '51 mini-reunion was recently held in San Francisco. Pierce McKee reports that, excluding 1977, the class of 1951 had the largest representation at the San Francisco Alumni Club's dinner honoring both President David McLaughlin '54 and our classmate, trustee nominee Mike Heyman. The '51ers present in the throng of 330 and pictured near this column were Pierce and his wife Rosina, Shirley and Pete Bogardus, John Bransten, Isobel and Herm Christensen, Cecelia and George Goldthorpe, and Marge and Jim Wylie. Traveling in the McLaughlin entourage were Lu and Pete Martin to round out the mini-reunion. More later on each classmate's personal up-date as they are received in the mail.

Reed Badgley's bash for the benefit of the Winnetka Community House starring the great jazz pianist Teddy Wilson went off in fine style. Besides playing a whole generation of famous songs that we grew up with, Teddy commented on his experiences with all the jazz greats, including Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Louis Armstrong. He is a cool and interesting performer and not to be missed the next time he comes to your town. And as for Reed, he now can add "impresario extraordinaire" to his resume and long list of accomplishments.

Bob Hackstaff has been elected to serve a three-year term on the board of governors of the American Society of Real Estate Counselors. The election took place during the society's annual meeting held recently in conjunction with the National Association of Realtors Convention in Miami Beach.

During my last visit into the South, Carol and Jim Robinson hosted a lovely and gracious dinner with good old friends in Chattanooga. Jim's ever-growing list of accomplishments and his quiet, low-profile life-style never cease to amaze me. Besides being president and chief operating officer of the American Manufacturing Company, he finds time to serve as a member of the Power Board, a founder and driving force behind the Rivermont Presbyterian Church, a Rotarian, and trustee of the prep school in New England where youngest son Lee is a student. His other two children are out of college and progressing well in the world. It also never ceases to amaze me not only how photogenic '51ers are, but also how their pictures keep cropping up in various publications around the country. Recently coming my way was a San Francisco Examiner photo, reproduced near this column, showing Pete Bogardus standing between City Supervisor Quent Kopp '49 and the Candlestick Park "sod squad" boss. The accompanying article was about the drawing for a ticket to the Super Bowl game in Michigan. Pete not only donated the $40 ticket to the Super Bowl but also $500 to buy the blue windbreaker jackets worn by the sod squad.

As soon as anyone hears of, or is involved in, the planning of a '51 mini-reunion, please let me know — because if I cannot personally attend, I want to set up a reporting system for this column.

The class of '51 took honors as the second-best-represented class at a recent San Francisco AlumniClub dinner honoring President David McLaughlin '54 and trustee nominee, '51er Mike Heyman. From left to right are Rosina McKee, Pierce McKee, McLaughlin, Peter Bogardus, HermChristensen, Isobel Christensen, Heyman, Pete Martin, John Bransten, Jim Wylie, GeorgeGoldthorpe, Marge Wylie, and Cecelia Goldthorpe.
