Those of us who live on Cape Cod got a nasty scare from Hurricane Bob. Unlike the hurricane of l938,when hundreds of lives were lost in the area, the advance warning gave people plenty of time to seek shelter on high ground. A quick check with our 1940 residents found that no houses were damaged and no boats were lost, but everyone lost trees and electrical power, many for several days. Bob Dibble and Brud Seller had the most tree damage about 20 large, old ones lost by Dibble.
Gordie Wentworth, Bob Rodday, EdFettes, and Chet Berry had minor tree damage. Tick Chisholm actually got free pruning of some cherry branches, which she had hoped for. Pete Shedden had no trees to lose and no other damage, but he had an exciting view of the angry Atlantic from his elevated vantage point.

Al Thorpe reports that he has made a good recovery from trigeminal neuralgia, which kept him from our 50th. He and Carol have done a lot of traveling. While the rest of the world heads toward Niagara Falls, they spend their time going in the opposite direction.
Bob Dibble has come out on top again in the over-70 division of the Lower Cape Tennis Tournament.
Tick Chisholm is really pleased with the outcome of her hip surgery. Although her brother, orthopaedic surgeon Sid McPherson, did not perform the operation, his technical advice and moral support were very helpful.
