Lucy M. Bugbee, widow of Lloyd H. Bugbee, was the subject of several recent newspaper articles regarding her conservation work. Now 95, Lucy is credited as being the founder of the environmental movement in Vermont, where she and Lloyd moved in 1951. A reception held last spring in honor of her 95 th birthday was the occasion for the presentation of the latest in a string of awards and citations from state and national environmental, garden, and wildflower organizations. Lucy maintains an extensive wildflower garden at her home overlooking the Connecticut River in Fairlee, Vt., 15 miles north of Hanover.
