We start this month with a pretty thin news bag, which might present us with an excellent opportunity to do a bit of catching-up on the address changes. We'll see.
Bob Cushman keeps adding directorships in his retirement. Most recently he was elected to the board of Instron Corporation, a maker of instruments and systems for advanced materials testing.
Bill Russell was elected to a second term in the New Hampshire legislature this past fall. He appears to represent both parties, which seems a bit unusual, but then sometimes we think the entire state has some unusual qualities. Not bad, though! Bill and Carol live on Turnpike Road, New Ipswich, N.H. 03071.
Dick Storrs writes from the St. Vincent Radiological Medical Group Inc. in Los Angeles, where he holds forth, sending along some material published by Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in which Freddie Upton is pictured as the secretary and a member of the board of trustees. Dick says, "I know Fred's appointment has been reported in the ALUNTNI MAGAZINE a while ago, but I was interested in the photo. How does Fred remain so young-looking and unchanged since 1939?" Having seen Fred in the flesh fairly recently, we would have to second Dick's question.
Jim and Doris Corner recently stopped off in Lancaster, Pa., and had a pleasant lunch with Ellie Sampson. Herewith is a run-down on the late Jim's and Ellie's offspring. "Oldest daughter Eleanor is divorced and lives in nearby Lebanon, Pa., with her two boys, so Ellie sees a lot of them. Second daughter, Nancy, lives in Shaker Heights, Ohio, with husband who is in the State Farm Insurance organization. Son Tom is in the builders' supply business in Ft. Collins, Colo. Some of Ellie's time is taken up with volunteer work for the Lancaster County Historical Society." Jim further mentioned that Jim Sampson left an endowment to Dartmouth and the interest it earns is his everlasting memorial contribution to the Alumni Fund. As Jim Corner says, "Very thoughtful of Jim!"

For the record, as indicated in a class mailing under date of january 26, our prexy, Bert MacMannis, made the announcement of a switch in accommodations for the mini-reunion next fall. We go from Bonnie Oaks closer to Hanover, to the Sheraton Inn, in West Lebanon, N.H. This was the will of most of the usual attendees. We shall see how it works out in September.
