For four years, he roamed the Ivy gridirons in dignified defense of the Dartmouth goal line. His end-to-end sprints on the lacrosse field earned him the title "commander" of the olives. That he chose to drive a Datsun 280-Z lent credibility to Japanese imports in general and sex appeal to that model in particular. The effortless style which landed him a second place finish in balloting for Time magazine's cover story, "Machine of the Year," carried H. Cody Press gracefully down the aisle on December 31. With Greg Henry and Dana Abraham in attendance, Cody married the former Stacy Mischeaux in San Francisco. Best man and ceremony correspondent Eric Cutter writes, The wedding was beautiful and came off without incident. I think that half of San Francisco was in. mourning for the '49ers and the other half was off in Greece or somewhere ..."

Eric has been a sales representative for Moore Business Forms for the last two years. In December, he gladly accepted a transfer from Buffalo to Washington, D.C. He says that's a pretty „fair promotion. Note for all of you ornithological trivia buffs: Eric lives in Laurel, Md., which is the home of the U.S. Migratory Bird Banding Center.

Speaking of birds, what has ten goose eggs, plenty of sweat, and was five years in the making? An epicurean omelette? No, the Campaign for Dartmouth. Nearly 40,000 alumni, parents, and friends have donated a mind-boggling $200,000,000.00. Now, or as politicians say, "at this point in time," the count continues, as a backlog of gifts floods campaign headquarters. Whatever the final tally, it stands as a fine tribute to all of your fine support of the College. Congratulations.

Congratulations, also, to Kathryn Flitner, who married William Spiegelberg on December 19 in Cheyenne, Wyo. Following two years of modeling and theater work west of Broadway in New York, Kathryn returned to the wilds west of the Bighorns for her wedding.

As the brides go tearing by: This month's recap includes some items I had heretofore overlooked. Congratulations are still in order, even after a few years. Sometime, a year or more ago, Frank Cannon married Carolyn Gesner '8l. And Don Skanze (a) has married or (b) will marry Kjersti Aksnes '82. I apologize for the sketchy details. I realize this is akin to Warner Wolf announcing partial scores in sports, but my sources are not always biographical Dick Tracys.

Some months ago, I described the June 19 wedding of Chris LaRocca and the former Bonny Nadeau. I apologize for allowing poetic license to steer me so far from the essentials. In a nutshell, the 'BO contingent which celebrated with the couple at their wedding included Chris Parkin, Jeff and Jane Mackey-Mason, Dave May, Stuart West, John Havasy, Geoff George, Steve Murphy, John Slocum, Amy (Hume) and Dave McQueeney, Anne (Daigneault) and Grant McEwen, Dan LaChance, Vin Ciaola, Dick O'Keefe, and chief correspondent Laurel Smith. With all due respect, I calls 'em as I sees 'em. I am sorry I offended anyone.

"Cameron Crone to be Married" screamed out the bold print from the wedding announcements section of The New York Times. Yes, Brent Bilger and Cami Crone are making it official. Time and place? Well, as Frank Sinatra croons, "Who knows where or when ..." Anyway, since he graduated with his master's from Cornell, Brent has been a project engineer in the advanced technology group of the LTX Corporation. LTX is based in Westwood, Mass., where Brent and Cami will make their home. That beautiful town is also where RoyJohnson and George "Moe" Lester went to high school. Roy has left New York City for Boston and a job with Wang.

Movements of the diamond ring across the old ouija board indicate that Tom Chapin is engaged to Kate Skilling from Bates. And Dick Williams married Nancy Nichols in their hometown of Crawfordsville, Ind., last September.

Jim Loftus is in his second year of medical school at the State University of New York downstate. He wrote to welcome me to "God's country Brooklyn." The borough that produced such stars as Gil Hodges and Neil Diamond is now home for Elvis. (Jim earned that name when he wore blue shoes for the lacrosse team a few seasons ago.) He lives in Flatbush, which my landlord pronounces Frat-boosh.

Elsewhere in New York medicine is Drew Miller, who is in his third year at Cornell Medical School in Manhattan. Dr. Drew just finished a rotation in obstetrics-gynecology. He says that due to New York's ferocious population explosion, it's "Here, catch!" 24 hours a day. Fortunately Dash and his surgeon's hands receive good training by handling the rugby ball for the Old Green as well as handling the groupies at Murphy Pie's Pub.

In December, Explorer Post 53 dedicated the addition built in Jim Foote's memory. Footeman was past president of this volunteer emergency medical service in Darien, Conn. Thanks to all of you whose generosity helped build this working memorial to a good person.

Take care, my friends, and think spring!
