As I was beginning to adjust to an early winter in Southern New England, Brew Towne, a member of our class executive committee, dispelled my contentment with the following invitation which perhaps some of you lucky classmates can accept. Brew writes,
I have never written a letter about myself for use in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE; but, after 22 years, perhaps it is time to do so. If it is of interest to anyone, the meanderings of the Townes now lead to Arizona. We have purchased a ranch outside of Tucson which we will open for the winter for guests under the name of White Stallion Ranch, Route 1, Box 567, Tucson, Ariz.
It is in a beautiful setting, about 17 miles from the city and we will have horses, swimming pool, and all the activities that go with a really fine vacation spot of this sort. For the first winter, we are forming an Early Settlers Club which will give those who come the first few weeks a sizable discount and preferential treatment for reservations in later years. We will have nice units for families as well as couples and hope that some of our Dartmouth friends and their families will come and see us.
For historical fill-in, we left National Blank Book Company about three years ago and have been with Treadway Inns Corporation since then - managing the Treadway Inn at Coonamessett part of a year, then working in Sturbridge, and, for the last year and a half, as Executive Vice President of Treadway Inns. This past summer, we have been operating Toy Town Tavern in Winchendon, Mass., and will be back there next summer. I will be glad to hear from any classmates who have sons who want summer employment next year.
I look forward to seeing you, John, at the next class executive committee meeting and, in the meantime, try to come to Arizona this winter.
We had not heard from Frank Higgins for a long time when he suddenly made news in Olean, N. Y., as a chairman of the Community Chest drive. Frank is a vice president of the Exchange National Bank of Olean, a director of the bank, director of the General Hospital, the Chamber of Commerce and Country Club as well as the Community Chest, and is active in other community affairs. During the war, Frank was in the Navy and was present as a lieutenant on the U. S. S. Missouri at the signing of the surrender of the Japanese forces. He is married to the former Dorothy Morris of Olean, and they have two children, Frank and Linda, and reside at 1229 Highland Terrace.

The largest department store chain in the nation has been put together under the aegis (to use a '36 word) of Morton D. May when he merged the May Company and the Hecht chain last month. The May Company name will survive and Buster will remain the president at his headquarters in St. Louis.
