Traynham to Move West

The Rev. Warner R. Traynham '57. Dean of the Tucker Foundation and College Chaplain at Dartmouth since 1974. has announced he will leave the College June 30 to become rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Los Angeles, Calif.

Although having to contend with budgetary austerity throughout his tenure. Dean Traynham has been a major force on campus through his periodic broadsides on issues confronting society, his re-invigora-tion of non-denominational services at Rollins Chapel, his instrumental work in establishing the Jewish chaplaincy at the College, and the series of Upper Valley social service programs involving large numbers of Dartmouth students.

On receiving Traynham's resignation. President McLaughlin stated, "I am genuinely sorry that Warner will be leaving the College. He has contributed a great deal to the Dartmouth experience these nine years and will be sorely missed."
