Two business executives - Richard M. Bressler '52 of Seattle, Wash., and Robert A. Danziger '56 of Newton, Mass. - have been elected to the College's Board of Trustees. Bressler is president and chief executive officer of Burlington Northern Inc. of Seattle, and Danziger is the founder, president, and chief executive of the Boston-based Northland Investment Corporation. The two will take office at the conclusion of Dartmouth's 214 th commencement on June 10.
Bressler replaces Berl Bernhard '51, a Washington, D.C., lawyer, who has served as a trustee for ten years. Danziger replaces Donald C. McKinlay '37, also a ten-year member of the board.
Bressler began his business career with General Electric and has served as vice president and treasurer of American Airlines, as executive vice president of Atlantic Richfield, and as president of Arco Chemical Company. He joined Burlington Northern, a railroad conglomerate headquartered in Seattle, in 1980. Bressler also serves as a director of Burlington Northern, Honeywell Inc., Seafirst Corporation, and General Mills Inc. He is a trustee of Reed College in Portland, Ore. During 1965-66, Bressler was president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Northeastern New York.
While Bressler is a Charter Trustee, named by the Board of Trustees itself, Danziger is an Alumni Trustee, whose name was placed in nomination by the Alumni Council in December. A summary of Danziger's career and civic achievements was in the December issue of the Magazine.
The Board also elected Trustee Priscilia Frechette to another term and reelected Walter Burke '44 as chairman.
