Christmas card messages and a few "green cards" (how about sending one to me?) will provide the grist for this column, so here goes.

The Fred Slaughters sent a greeting that included 11 photos from the past year. These included the '31 gathering in Sarasota last winter, one with the Ernie Moores in Stuart, Fla., one of their granddaughter Sarah's wedding, and one of Fred's 75th birthday celebration last April 1 (I won't say "April Fool's Day").

Jack and Ceci Chamberlin left Chicago by Amtrack before Christmas to visit their son David in Albuquerque and then went on to Los Angeles for Christmas with their son Mark. Their other son, John Jr., was with them for Thanksgiving. All are flourishing.

Chuck O'Neill emitted his annual New Year's letter comment on humanity's frailties and foolishness of the past year and again did it with his surpassing wit and writing ability. He concludes: "Through '85, as we continue to get it, courage, love, and patience to all."

Dr. John Feltner writes from North Chili, N. Y., that he and Barbara recently completed their third trip north of the Arctic Circle to Lapland. He writes of it: "Fall comes early there, with a beautiful carpet of multicolored display as deer and we tread softly on the thick ground cover. The Finns love their nature and their culture a great combination. We enjoyed a cabin in the woods and then opera in Helsinki."

Jim and Bunny Godfrey are escaping the New Hampshire cold by taking a house in St. Croix, with children and grandchildren visiting them.

Sarasota, Fla., is the new home of Don Ewing, as he moves from Falls Church, Va. His new address is 3329 Fair Oaks Place. He has joined the very active Dartmouth Club there and sees Ori Hobbs, Dick Henry, and others at the club's biweekly lunches.

Another Florida prospect is Spence Cram, who writes he is "experimenting" with Sun City Center. He, too, has seen Ori and Dick, as well as Larry Tucker,

Listen to this: George Nickum spent last November touring the Fiji Islands, New Zealand, Australia, and Hong Kong! He says he enjoyed it, but "my ability to handle time zone changes gets poorer every year."

He also reports he talked with Si Leach in October at the Mayo Clinic, where Si had had operations on both hips. He checked with Si again, in Florida, after returning from his trip, and says Si reported slow but good progress. We'd like to hear more, Si.

Alex McKenzie '32 wrote me a letter of warm reminiscences about Temple Nieter in January. He included the fact that Gordonand Hope Clifford celebrated their 50th anniversary last,, year, but Temp could not attend, even though he had been Gordon's best man, because of his heart condition that later proved fatal.
