The brand of Dartmouth hockey was a disaster at the early stage of the season, but the companionship was a treasure. John Hyde and I made the trek from Concord, N.H., to Hanover in mid-December for dinner and the Dartmouth-Harvard hockey game. The Big Green didn't belong on the same ice with Harvard (score: 11-1), but between periods we went downstairs to Thompson Arena's Smoyer Lounge where we met several classmates. Of course faithful Bodie Mosenthal was there, as were Barb and Dr. Bob Liming, Leslie and Don Taylor, Nance and FritzGeller, up from Keene, and Ray Colby, who makes most of the games from his hustings in Montpelier.

I was particularly delighted to see June and Cal Osberg in the stands. I hadn't seen Cal in 16 years. He and June live in Sandwich, N.H., about 80 miles east of Hanover, as the road twists. Cal formerly was with Ginn and Company, book publishers, and the Osberg family lived in Lynnfield, Mass.

Other regulars at the home hockey games include Nora and George Graham and EddieO'Brien. I looked for Nora and George in the stands at the Harvard game but never spotted them. Eddie was out of town.

So many '43s attend the home hockey games that the idea of a winter mini-reunion is being circulated. If there's sufficient inter- est, we could stage a cocktail hour and dinner before the game and get seats in a group. If the idea strikes you favorably, get in touch with Eddie, Don Taylor, or me.

Herb Marx writes from New York about a pleasant winter holiday he and Dorothy spent in La Jolla, Calif. While there, they visited with Marge and Van Quackenbush, who publish the weekly newspaper Valley Roadrunner in nearby Valley Center, Calif. Herb reports: "I had not seen them since visiting with them in Illinois in the fifties. Van, at the moment, is recovering from back surgery, but otherwise all goes well with them, and they live in a beautiful house, which they designed, atop a mountain with a spectacular view."

Kelly Coffin was married November 24 to Ann Avery Jackson at Bal Harbour, Fla. Kelly's older son, Tris '75, was the best man, and Bob Austin '4O was an usher. The newlyweds have moved to Miami Beach. We all wish them the best.

Margo and Frank Hartmann are grandparents for the first time. Their daughter, Crickie LaFontaine, gave birth to Alexander in New York a few weeks before Christmas.

About the time this is in print, Electra and I will be off to England for about a week of sightseeing and perhaps a visit to my old B17 bomber base north of London. Nostalgia has a way of creeping up on you.

The news is sparse this season. If you hear about job changes, travels, or other events involving classmates, shower down!
