Are you secretly addicted to "Hill Street Blues"? to "Dallas"? "Dynasty"? "Berringer's"? "St. Elsewhere"? Do you find yourself turning down invitations to social events because life stops when THE SHOW is on? Don't worry, you're not alone. More and more people are finding themselves in this situation. There is help out there: write to the above address, and tell us what you do when you aren't watching the shows. Maybe seeing your name in print in the Dartmouth AlumniMagazine will help.

Well, the United States Football League may have gained Doug Flutie, but they lost Doug Thomas. Doug spent the last two years not on the field but in the public relations end of the game. He now works in New York City for Dancer, Fitzgerald, and Sample Advertising as an assistant account executiveAlso in advertising in New York is MikeFielding, who is working for Compton Advertising.

Meredith and Grew's brokerage department (Boston) announced the merger and acquisition of one of their own, and one of ours, James J. Adams. Jim will specialize in the sales and lease of commercial and industrial properties. Before joining the brokerage department, Jim worked in Meredith and Grew's research department as a research analyst. Boston is the home of Mark Nesline as well. Mark is spending the time between whichever of the nighttime soaps he is addicted to as a control systems engineer with Raytheon Corporation. He resides in Bedford, Mass., with another '82, Hugh Stoupe. Hugh finished his B.E. at Thayer School, and he now is employed as a product test engineer with Arialong Devices, Inc. Reliable sources tell me that at least one of Hugh's lifelong dreams is to be the world's best prod- uct tester. Could be interesting. Also in the Bean Town vicinity lives the one and only Dave Schafer. Between tennis matches, workouts, ski trips, and rent collections, Dave finds a little bit of time to be manager of operations, for the marketing research firm Northeast Field Facts. While we're in Boston, allow me to mention that Maya Ohl is finishing up her studies at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Mike McAuliffe is in his first year at the Boston University Busi- ness School, Peter Roberts is among a slew of our classmates at Harvard Business School, and Jonathan Marvel is in the third year toward his architectural degree at Harvard.

Broadening our boundaries beyond Boston, Steve Peterec is in his third year of medical school at Yale, and Chris Weiss is a systems analyst for Puritan Insurance Companies in Providence, R.I. Though Chris is cultivating a brilliant career in computers, his self-reported life's ambition is to open a chain of bowling alleys and hire all of his friends to run them. Whoops, I'm not sure that I was supposed to print that sorry, J. Christopher. Thanks for all the info though.

Let's leave New England, and head a bit further south to Washington, D.C., where Earl McMahon is finishing his law school studies at Georgetown and is planning to move to Hartford, Conn., to begin his life of legalese. Another aspiring lawyer even further south is Scrib Fauver. Scrib is in his first year at the University of Virginia Law School in Charlottesville.

Out west, Marty Campbell is visiting (or was, by now) home in Berkeley, Calif., between her just-finished two-year Peace Corps stint and her return to Zaire to manage Peace Corps volunteers. Pete Cogan has finally settled in a bit to work for a brokerage firm in the Bay Area. There is quite a contingent of '82s out there. Colette Drape is working with wines she is helping to manage a Napa Valley winery; Leslie Fleming is free-lancing her artistic endeavors in San Francisco; and Tom French settled there for longer than he's been in any one place for quite some time at least two or three weeks. Frenchie's been researching, planning, organizing, and directing trips all around the world for SalenLindblad.

And, here in New York City, Bill White is parked at the 49th Street branch of Manufacturer's Hanover Bank as an account representative, and Carolyn Wilcox is working for Paine Webber and will be married in August of this year. Best wishes, Carolyn! BruceWeissberg is combining basketball and rabbinical studies here in the city. Bruce is studying to be an Orthodox rabbi at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and is also coaching a high school basketball team.

Finally, a few of our classmates returned to Hanover to compete in the Varsity-Alumni Swimming Meet late in the fall. Russ Gombosi, Mike Kremer, and Eban Jones competed with fellow Dartmouth alums against the varsity swim team. The results show that the alums held their own. Way to go, guys!

Well, "Hill Street" is about to start, so I'd better stop. Now you know what I do between shows! Write and let me know what you're doing. Em.
