Agyaman kami para ti writeup idiay tiAlumni Magazine. Naragsak kami nga makasao ka ti llokano-masapul mi 8 mga bulantapno agadal. Ngemti kusto nga panagsurat tilugar mi ket Luzon, saan Luzoa. Kitaem timapa. Sige ngarud, JB, and Katie. P.S. Agpasyar ka no maminsan.

I know, I know, you are thinking, "she's finally resorted to writing gibberish." But, in actuality, this is all quite intelligible to anyone who speaks the native language of the Philippines, that is. The authors are none other than our own JB and Katie Stearns Friday and this is a postcard that they sent to Philippa Guthrie earlier this year. Now who knows, we might be censored once it is translated, but that remains to be seen since we have no idea what it says. Philippa attempted an English translation, but since her language skills just aren't what they used to be, she just couldn't get it to flow. Who out there in our wonderfully diverse and multi-talented class can tell us what JB and Katie's message is? Send your try at translation to the above address and you will be the lucky winner of ... a chance to be published in the Alumni Magazine! Seriously, we would love to know what this says if anyone can translate it or if anyone knows someone who might be able to translate it, send the English version to me so we can share it with everyone. We await your replies.

Luckily, the rest of the information that I have received from and about our classmates has been in decipherable languages.

In New York Times lingo, I was informed of Bill Lipfert's September wedding to Annabelle Catherine Cone, (a Williams graduate). The Times tells us that Bill is president of the Monadnock Mill Company in Claremont, N.H., and his bride is a video production consultant in Hanover. They were married September 20 in South Woodstock, Vt.

In good old-fashioned American English, Tim von Herrmann wrote to tell me that he is also on the list of recently marrieds. On May 10 of this year, Tim married Susan Miles (Stanford '81) in Palo Alto, Susan's hometown. They have settied into life in Chicago, with Tim in an M.B.A. program at the University of Chicago while Susan puts to work her Berkeley law degree. The guest list (and wedding party) included quite a few of our classmates: Jim Steiner (Hawaiin lawyer) and Glenn Fox (New Orleans oilman) were ushers and Chris Reynolds (Boston stock analyst) was Tim's best man. Tim would like to thank Lydia Chambers (Texas oilwoman), who helped him dress for the wedding since his arm was in a Cast at the time sounds like (hmmm) a fun wedding.

Moving out of the marital bliss department and into academia, there seems to be an '82 overtaking of the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton. Marty Campbell,Sam Carlson, Jill Ruzikia, and MikeTavis are all enrolled in the Masters of Public Affairs program. Marty, Sam, and Jill are first years, while Mike has one year under his belt and will be finishing up in June.

Donna Lee Halverstadt left the academic world and leapt on to the real world bandwagon after graduating from UCLA with an M.B.A. in June. She celebrated the new letters after her name by jumping onto a plane, heading west, and stopping at the first place that looked like it had great beaches and good sun. Tahiti it was. After a relaxing five days there, Donna went on to spend a couple of week in Australia. She wrenched herself away from all of these wonderlands to begin her work with Goldman, Sachs (New York) in a finance group.

Until next month, just a reminder for you if you have not already done it: save June 19, 20, and 21 for a wonderful weekend in Hanover with your fellow '82s. The plans for our 5th reunion bash continue to move ahead. BE THERE in June when it all happens!

Hope your holidays are happy and that the new year brings a year full of smiles for everyone. See you next month. Em.

Many Dartmouth people enjoyed the reception at the Hanover Inn following the wedding of MaryellenAnderson '84 and William Gordon Prescott '83 in Hanover in August. Included in this photographare the groom's mother, widow of William M.S. Prescott '58, and his grandmother, widow of WilliamS. Prescott '27. '
