Has our class provided it first grandchild? Joel Jutkowitz reports from Philadelphia the birth on October 24 of Eric Gitlin Jutkowitz, "potentially class of '07, 2007, that is." If you can beat that, let me know, and Joel will be happy to share his pipe and slippers.

Brad Denny, one of some AD brothers covered this month courtesy of Jeff Lapic, might be ripe for the grandfather honor in the not-too-distant future with a son in the navy, a daughter at the University of Puget Sound, and another son at Dartmouth. Brad is director of public relations for Norwich University where he handles advertising, publications, and alumni news.

Other proud parents in that group are Eric Hansen, an accountant in El Toro, Calif., with teenage daughters, 13 and 15; Larry Lockwood Jr., a translator who lives in Somerville, Mass., with his wife and son; John C. McCamy (coal gasification) with three daughters in Bismarck, N.D., Walter S. Mills with two daughters in Dayton, Ohio; John S. Rittershofer, New York teacher with daughter Katrina, age one and a half; and Bob Anderson, who lives with his wife, Melissa, with their combined five children in San Francisco. More on growing families later. But while we're on AD, one of the famous brothers, Chris Miller, is reportedly working on the script for Animal House II, sequel to his classic spoof on college life a few years back. Chris, who lives in Los Angeles, said the last few years have been lean ones in the film industry. Last spring he married Mary Armantrout, a TV producer, commentator, and writer.

Rick Braddock, new head of all Citicorp/Citibank consumer businesses worldwide, had his photo in a major New YorkTimes story on the new regime succeeding Walter Wriston at the nation's largest bank. Rick is considered a strong ally of the new chairman, John S. Reed, who recruited him from General Foods in the early 19705. Rick's consumer domain is fast-growing and was built up originally by Reed almost from scratch, according to the Times story. The reorganization of Citicorp which put Rick into a top spot was also profiled at length in Fortune.

Other recent movers and shakers: ChrisWeidenmayer of Basking Ridge, N.J., elected chairman of the board of Faber-Castell Corporation; Howard Culver of Torrance, Calif., hired as director of environmental affairs at IT Corporation; and Jim Cappio recruited as vice president of marketing for Tenneco Automative in Chicago.

Chris Weidenmayer's daughter Amanda is at Foxcroft School in Virginia, and his daughter Betsy plays varsity soccer and ice hockey at Andover.

At IT Corporation Howard Culver is responsible for environmental law as it relates to IT's nationwide services for the assessment, mitigation, and decontamination of situations involving hazardous substances. Joining Jim Cappio in Chicago are his wife, Claire, and sons Adam, 11, Matt, eight, and Clay, six. Jimmy, 15, is a sophomore at St. Andrew's-Sewanee in Monteagle, Tenn.

Hit by the entrepreneur bug are JackHuber of Atlanta and Gerry Mark of Stamford, Conn. Jack started J.L. Huber and Associates after spending 18 years as a financial investment counselor. Huber and Associates focuses on financial counseling and portfolio management for wealthy individuals. G.E. Mark Associates is an engineering and marketing consulting business working with gourmet and specialty food and beverage manufacturers in the U.S. and abroad. Gerry spent the last 20 years building plants in that industry all over the world, principally in South America, Africa, and Eurasia.

Jim Puklin has been named professor of ophthalmology and director of vitreoretinal services at Northwestern University. He formerly was an associate professor at Yale. His daughter, Barbara, is a freshman at Dartmouth. Bud Weinstein is the new chairman of the Texas Economic Policy Advisory Council.

Bill lams, a cardiovascular surgeon, presented a paper at the XV World Congress of Chest Diseases in Sidney, Australia. He found time for scuba diving, skiing, and rock-climbing with wife Pam, Kenny, 16, a junior Olympic diver, Chrissy, 19, Robbie, 14, and Katie, seven. Morris Kramer, senior partner at the New York law firm, Skadden Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom, was the February guest speaker at the New York chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute.

Be sure to read the feature on Martin Luther King at Dartmouth in the January/ February issue of the Alumni Magazine. If you attended King's speech in 105 Dartmouth Hall in 1961, you will find the account of King at Dartmouth fascinating. Even if you weren't there, you'll like it. Till next time.
