While hundreds of us will be descending on the Hanover plain for the great return pilgrimage this June, some will be visiting the campus, not only as Dartmouth alumni but also as parents of Dartmouth students. Dave Orr of the Alumni Office reports that there are some 45 sons and daughters of '63s presently attending the College, a few of whom might be persuaded to share their perspectives on what it's like to be an undergraduate these days and perhaps more importantly, how you get to be one. MarkHorwich, a neurologist at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, has a son in the class of '88 and a daughter in the class of '87. Lee Bateman, a Long Island physician, has a son at Dartmouth, and BrentCromley, a Montana lawyer, reports that Brent Jr. will join the class of '91, along with Laura Friedman, daughter of Jim Friedman of Cleveland. All of these kids at Dartmouth are fodder for a possible panel discussion on admissions. Other scintillating topics: "Women in Today's Society: How are We Men Doing?" (Dr. Pamela Kneisel '76 of the Dartmouth Medical School has agreed to take an active role, and '63s are being recruited.) A third possible topic: "Where We've Been and Where We're Going." Suggestions are welcome.

A couple of guys who are going somewhere are Vincent Di Figlia and StephenCarlotti. Vincent was named by Gov. George Deukmejian of California to the San Diego Superior Court, according to the SanFrancisco Banner Daily Journal. Vincent practices plaintiff tort law with the San Diego firm of Schall, Boudreau and Gore, where he is a partner. Before joining the firm in 1984, he was deputy city attorney for 13 years, prosecuting misdeameanors and defending against civil tort claims.

A 1970 graduate of the University of Southern California law school, Vincent was an adjunct professor of law at the University of San Diego, from 1975-82, teaching a clinic in trial tactics.

Steve Carlotti, managing partner ot the Boston and Providence law firm of Hinckley, Allen, Tobin & Silverstein, was elected a director of Fleet National Bank of Providence. Steve practices primarily in corporate law with considerable experience in syndications and corporate acquistions. A Yale Law graduate, Steve is a member of the Taxation and Corporations, Banking and Business Law Sections of the American Bar Association. He has been town solicitor of his present hometown of Barrington since 1976 and is a trustee of Roger Williams College.

Pete Cornish is now a creative director at N.W. Ayer advertising agency in New York, thanks to another one of the great advertising megamergers taking place these days, this one with Pete's former employer, Cunningham & Walsh. Those of you on the West Coast may have seen a recent Cornish TV commercial of which he is proud, for Hires Root Beer starring Otis Redding singing "Dock of the Bay." Pete's music background serves him well if you recall his Lancers rock band at Dartmouth with Jimmy Valentine. Pete doesn't miss a beat, using a Sony Walkman to commute to work from Darien where he lives with wife, Jill, and four-year-old son Gregory.

Now, about my trip to Tunisia. My wife's relatives live in ancient Carthage overlooking the ancient Punic ports from which the Phoenicians engaged in commerce and Hannibal and the Carthaginians harbored the fleets that battled Rome. An extraordinary experience. Let me know about yours. More next month.
