Almost 900 parents, grandparents, and siblings of Dartmouth students visited the campus in July for a weekend of student- run activities. According to Stephanie Welsch 'BB, cochair of the weekend with John Replogle 'BB, the weekend was de- signed "to give parents an opportunity to see the impact of Dartmouth on their chil- dren in a nonacademic fashion." Only one- third of the Dartmouth experience is aca- demic, said Welsch; the other two-thirds are social adjustment and personal growth as a result of the community that students are a part of.
The events included a Saturday morning demonstration of the Rassias Method of language instruction on the Green, a bar- beque in the Bema, and a Summer Cabaret in Spaulding Auditorium. A student panel discussion told parents "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Dartmouth But Never Had the Chance to Ask."
