Fred Slaughter reported that Ruth and he had been superbly entertained last Easter by M.A. and George Nickum in Seattle and at the Nickums' home on Bainbridge Island. This happened on the Slaughters' return to Tacoma from a seven-week freighter trip to New Zealand and Australia. Fred is impressed with the selection committee's coming up with our new president, James Freedman.

A note from Doug Wilson comments on his beard, which I consider to be number one in the class and which, I had written him, resembles Bismarck's. Doug, in answer, expressed uncertainty with that conclusion, and further recalled that an Austrian-born restaurant proprietor in Atlanta tried unsuccessfully to convince Doug that the beard was just like Emperor Franz Joseph's. Doug's opinion is that it is a modified Fu Manchu, and relates that he had seen a similar beard (only darker) on a hippie on a street in New York.

Regarding my September class notes, Larry Allen wrote that he could not recall any Puck Uckerson during the Hanover years, nor could he find any listing of him in any of the year books or class directories. This prompted research by me which also revealed no listing in any of my records. Nor can I recall any information or news other than the questions regarding the possibility of the establishment of a law school at the College, although there was something about Beverly Hills. I shall attempt to report on this later. Aside from that matter, Larry wrote that Mary and he were in good shape in Topsham, Maine, and that JackDavis's widow, Jean, also in Topsham, was in the same condition.

Charlie Hill, Art Spiegel and your scribe attended the 60th reunion of our class at Exeter on the same weekend as that for our mini-reunion in Hanover, an unfortunate coincidence. There was a good turnout including (1) two guys in wheelchairs, (2) one who could easily pass for being in his 60s, and (3) the rest of the old guard being in a condition somewhere between those of (1) and (2). I'm pleased to report that neither Charlie, Art, nor I fell in the above listed number (1) category. We missed Ed West who, I'm sorry to have to report, lost his wife, Adah, a few days before the reunion.

Good holidays to all!
