In Jack Weisert's long and interesting letter of last November 14, which he sent to correspondents including Bill Wendell and me, he reported in great detail and with considerable humor on his attack by and recovery from an occlusion in his circulatory system last May. Fortunately Bill had the space in his newsletter to relay much of that letter to you at a much earlier date than could I. It was not clear to me from Jack's letter, however, if he is still playing golf after the attack, but it occurred to me to ask herein if he—or any classmate—has ever been able to shoot his age—for 18 holes, that is. How about a report from that gang in Florida?

Holiday cards from: Lee Andrews; LucyCogswell; Jean Davis, just before departing Maine for the winter in Mexico; VanceDickerman, reporting improvement in Libby's health, and that he hoped to see Dartmouth's basketball and hockey teams in action in the San Diego area during the holiday season; Ed Picken, whom I'm going to ask to make the Princeton game next fall; Bob Powell; Fred Slaughter; and Bill Wilson, with whom Ed Picken and I might form the nucleus for a mini-reunion at said game.

In the latter part of '87, notes from: DanDenham, expressing the possibility of relocating so that he might be equidistant from each of his two sons, in which case he'd be in eastern Pennsylvania; HarrietHerwitz; and Charlie Hill, writing that he hoped to be back to research in Baker Library next summer.

Around the end of the year Bob Baumrucker, back in San Francisco from his winter wheat spread, sent a note in which I detected an interest in doing some trout fly fishing. I believe that he is aware that I am planning a re-match against those beauties in the San Juan in New Mexico. From the next state north came a call from HartGilchrist with an excellent suggestion to help get Red Rolfe some votes for election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Lastly a note from Ernie Moore including his check for the Alumni Fund and the form for a corporate matching gift. This gives me, your class matching-gift agent, the opportunity to remind those of you who are eligible to secure these important matching gifts, to do so before June 15; also the opportunity to thank those of you who have already done so.
