Professor John W. Strohbehn was named acting College provost for one year. President Freedman will choose a permanent successor. Strohbehn joined the Dartmouth faculty in 1963 and has been an associate dean at the Thayer School of Engineering since 1976. At Dartmouth, the provost oversees the graduate schools, Kiewit Computation Center, the library, the Hopkins Center and the Hood Museum of Art. Strohbehn replaces Agnar Pytte, who left Dartmouth to became the new president of Case Western Reserve University.
