Hop ex-director leaves

Peter Smith, the former director of the Hopkins Center, has been named dean of the School of Arts at Columbia. Smith headed the Hop for 12 years before stepping down. During the last two years he has been at work on a book about the presidency of John Sloan Dickey. Smith, who is an adopted member of the class of 1935, hopes to continue work on the book while at Columbia.
