It has been a busy 1988 to date for Bud and Shirley Bush, Chester, Conn., starting with an enjoyable January week in Phoenix, Ariz. In June they had a fun four-day cruise on the Mississippi Queen-low water, high dikes, sufficiently cool weather, plus a day in Baton Rouge. In July Bud had a happy 85th birthday party with 55 relatives and friends.
Cheshire, Conn., residents Ken andRuth Foster reported in with their quiet life in another section of the "Nutmeg State." Besides celebrating Ken's August birthday, they enjoy their bridge games, eating out, and other local activities.
From Clearwater, Fla., Clary Taylor's response to the class birthday card told of some loss of sight in both eyes, which with semi-deafness makes it more difficult to enjoy life to its fullest. At 85 Clary says he does not gripe too much, as life has been particularly happy with Betty over the years, and he does enjoy good health otherwise.
Class prexy Tubba Weymouth began the fall season in Hanover in good health after knee surgery at Mary Hitchcock during the summer. He kept in his usual close touch with class doings during hospitalization and following therapy, and now at home navigates on his own thus sparing Barbara from more visits or home care.
Dick and Dot Husband hold the class record in the number of Elderhostel seminars attended this year two in Maine, Bates College and a Catholic Center in Alfred. A trip after Labor Day took them to Oregon to visit friends, and later Dick gave a talk at the 100th anniversary of the University of Wisconsin. Dick was teaching there in 1938 and was chairman of the 50th anniversary celebration.
Last summer Lou and I spent three weeks in Norway (land of my ancestors), which included 11 days on the mail boat trip around North Cape, as well as a dinner party with nine cousins in Bergen. The remaining summer was in Friendship, Maine, with cool breezes off the ocean and an ample supply of fog. On one sunny day Lou celebrated her 80th together with 30 relatives.
