It seems the grass was not the only thing to dry up this summer: I have only a couple of items to pass along to you this month. It surely was oppressively hot and humid, with eringly so, causing a drought of all incentives and resolves, probably yours, and certainly mine. This fall has been blessedly cool, at least here in New England, but the leaves turned color early and fell, so it's going to seem like a long winter. I notice things like that more now that I have entered my "season of mellow fruitfulness," but rather than expressing my own "Ode to Autumn" or "Ode to Dejection" I already have too many bills to generate more "oweds" let me instead pass along the following:
First: Together again after 40 years! That zany gang from 208 Richardson JohnHatch, Tom Porter, Jim Tobin, and GaryMansur! The occasion, as Gary notes in his letter, was the wedding of Tom's son Jerry and the reception at the Eastward Ho Country Club in Chatham on Cape Cod on June 12. Gary, let it be known, is vice president of Dedham Consulting Group, which specializes in corporate communications such as the design and production of annual reports, new product campaigns, and business educational programs.
Second, and finally: Among those to see the light at the Cubs' first-ever evening game at Wrigley Field were Herb Knight, Jim Bovaird, Dave Hilton, and Pete Henderson. If, as rumored, Herb got the tickets, I suppose we could call it a "Knight game."
Well, now you see how expunsive ot time and space it is to allow me free reign to my punderous wit. But if you will supply me with news, I promise not to lapse again into my punsive mood. Put another way: if you will pick up your pens, I will drop my puns.
Take care, be good to yourselves, and keep in touch.
