September 16-17 was billed as a mini-reunion and mini it was as only 16 stalwart classmates of Tribe 1927 traveled north ward and mounted the Hanover plain to enjoy the fall foliage, meet with old friends, watch a barely lost football game, and enjoy a fine after-dinner talk by Bob Tobey's grandson, Bill, on his activities as deputy director of arms control on the National Security Council. On hand were Rog and Lolly Bury and Rog's son Curt '53, Frank and Evelyn Strong, Pauland Betty Hannah, Seth Besse, DowMills, Steve Osborn, Bob Bliss, Bob Tobey, Peg Funkhouser, Finny Ham, and Ellie Blanchard. Charlie and Ruth Paddock, Doc and Eleanor Milliken, and Brad Fuller had planned to attend but had to cancel at the last minute because of unplanned health complications.

Under your writer's caption of "Glad some of us are healthy," Dow Mills and Steve Osborn took two additional days off after the weekend to hike up to Holt's Ledge to see the falcons' nesting place and to get a view of the College Grant, which neither of them had seen before.

Bill Elliot, like most of us, is having some health problems but' not so seriously as to keep him from intently following the Boston Red Sox in their try for the World Series (Maybe next year!). We had a pleasant lunch with Bill last September and found him in excellent spirits and seeming good health.

The latest from Marshall Cleaves is that he has thrown in the towel as far as driving is concerned. He still lives in a comfortable two-story townhouse in Concord, Mass., and keeps in touch with the outside world with the help of friendly neighbors and a daughter who lives near by.

Bob Bliss is among the increasing number of classmates who have reached 85. That was a special day for Bob as it brought him and his son together when they gathered at the latter's place on a nearby river and spent an evening by the river bank watching birds, ducks, and a stray goose or two.

Only one death, thankfully, to report this month, namely Raymond S. King on July 1.Our parting wish for this month is: Hope you had a good Thanksgiving holiday.
