As a non-fitting reward for his excellent reporting in Tithe of the Babcock Barbecue in Punta Gorda in March and then of the C.0.W. activities late in April (which he was unable to attend), Frank K. Kappler returned to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York for additional repairs to his weary hips and tricky knees. The prognosis is good and we expect Frank will be ready for an assault on Moosilauke by the next C.O.W.

Fred "Babo" Babcock and his family were indeed most gracious hosts. His widespread ranch presents a potpourri of fascinations—cattle, alligators, ostriches, sod farm, woodlands, and 100,000 acres of genuine wilderness. Thanks again, Babo, from us fortunate ones who attended and enjoyed.

Two important items in the May 22 issue of Tithe need your immediate attention. Connie Wickham, our new social chairman, asked you to please send in your preference or comments for a possible fall trip. Frank Curtis needs your suggestions and ideas for the Class Awards Program. Coupons are on page five of Tithe. Very simple to clip and mail in—PLEASE.

Congratulations and best wishes to Virginia Clifford and Louis Benezet who were married in New York City on May 3. After a summer at Mt. Holly, Vt., they expect to be back at 25 Claremont Avenue, New York City, in November.

On May 15, in Lyme, N.H., a 21-acre parcel of land described as one of the most interesting areas within a 25-mile radius of Hanover was dedicated as the Robert G. Chaffee Wildlife Sanctuary in memory of the noted scientist who died October 2, 1986, after a long career devoted to education and nature. Bob was instrumental in the establishment of the Montshire Museum of Science in Hanover.

The man who probably most thoroughly exemplifies "Mr. Dartmouth," EddieChamberlain, has closed up shop on Rip Road in Hanover and moved to Queenstown on the Maryland shore where his wife, Mona, has accepted a position with the Aspen Foundation.

Bill Gray, whom I saw several places on the Florida circuit last winter, is currently touring the San Francisco area with his wife, Jean; then up the West Coast to Vancouver and on to Banff and Calgary. In August, to escape the D.C. heat and humidity, they plan to be at Boyce Mountain, Va.

This will come too late for the Maine Lobster Picnic which Phyllis England graciously hosted at her new hideaway in South Freeport, Maine. It is a great tribute to Laura and Tommy Thomas that this annual gathering continues.

Dave and Shirley Fox have been busy learning American History of the North west via Elderhostel on the Olympic Peninsula. They will be East for the '36 fall reunion in Hanover the weekend of the Lehigh game, September 23-25. A block of rooms for 1936 has been reserved at the Higbea Motel in Lebanon, phone 603/4485070. I suggest you call without delay. The foliage should be turning and yet football should still be played in shirt-sleeve weather. And the class dinner will be right next door at Lander's Restaurant. If Higbea is fully booked, give Paul Guibord, a call at 603/643-4319 and he may be able to help you find a friendly hostel.
