Another June! I wonder if people who live in other parts of our great country get quite so "turned on" by a single month in the year. Whether you do or don't, start making plans now for our 40th Reunion in June, 1991!

We have known about Pete Martin's South-North News Service and its growing success; now we are aware of his latest journalistic/educational venture, Third WorldWeek, which provides news most Americans are not likely to find in any other source. Pete's credentials for such an enterprise are impressive, so let me quote from a bio recently offered about him when he lectured in 105 Dartmouth: "Peter Bird Martin '51 went to work for the St. LouisPost-Dispatch immediately after graduation as a reporter. In 1953 he was appointed a Ford Foundation Fellow of the Institute of Current World Affairs in sub-Saharan Africa. He spent two years reporting social, economic, and political conditions at the end of the colonial era I.. then became a Time magazine correspondent and writer specializing in Latin American affairs for eight years, from 1955 to 1963. After a year as editor of Time's Canadian edition, he reported stories from Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia as a roving world editor. In 1967 he became a senior editor and in 1970 was appointed to Time Incorporated's new magazine development group. In 1972 he became founding editor of Money magazine. In 1978 he left Time Incorporated to become executive director of the Institute of Current World Affairs and the American Universities Field Staff in Hanover. In 1984, to concentrate on the work involved in launching the South North News Service, he resigned as president of the Field Staff, although he still serves as executive director of the Institute." Should you wish a year's subscription, send $49.50 ($34 of which is tax deductible) to 4 West Wheelock Street, Hanover, NH 03755.

From Howie Reynold's wife, Shirley, I got a nice note enclosing a clipping I am sending to Batch for our newsletter. Howie has been teaching psychology at Colgate for several years, and last year published Computers in Psychology. Two sons, Jim and Jeff, graduated from Dartmouth in 1975 and 1977 respectively.

Dave Wiggins greencards to say that he and Pete Henderson shared a table with other D notables in Chicago when President Freedman visited there in April. JoeMcDonald says he'll "write soon on what's happening" at his new address: 6315 63rd Way, West Palm Beach, FL.

Roger Shannon writes that he and Maggie "have returned to roots" in Maryland after years in Spokane and that he's glad to be where there's a "formal Dartmouth Club" (an oxymoron?). Rog is with the VA central office in Washington, where he is director of radiology for 172 hospitals. Since being back east, he has skied Mad River Glen "for the first time in 31 years." Rog promises to make our 40th Reunion in 1991.

Be good to yourselves, stay healthy, and keep in touch.
