Mary Vic and I spent an interesting Class Officers Weekend in Hanover in April. Along with Gene Gasbarro, John Knight,Bill and Patti Sadd, Art and Sue Hoover,Tom Komarek, and John Clark, we were briefed on such issues as the Dartmouth Review case and the refocusing of the College admissions policies. Dan Tompkins, who has been on campus as a visiting professor of classics (from Temple), wrote a very thorough insider/outsider review of the Review incident... copies were handed out during the weekend and are available from Dan (Philadelphia phone number 215/787-8251).

Mike Slive is looking more and more like Red Auerbach, cigar and all. Mike was written up in the Chicago press as the "best defense for NCAA offences" for his athletic law practice, which he runs out of MikeCoffield's law offices. He represents Division I colleges such as lowa State, Illinois, Arizona State, and others involved in NCAA investigations. Mike's background as a trial lawyer, assistant AD at Dartmouth, and assistant PAC 10 commissioner provides a unique blend of experience for his brand of jock law. Mike commutes back to Hanover for weekends where his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter Anna still hold the home fort on Maple Street.

Doug Walgren is running as an Democratic incumbent (unopposed) for Pennsylvania's 18th U.S. Congressional seat. Doug has been in the Congress since 1976, and is a member of the energy/community and science/space/technology committees as well as a number of important subcommittees.

Bob Andrew was appointed president and CEO of Core International Inc., a Boca Raton-based computer disk drive manufacturer. Bob, who according to his wife, Janet, recently shed some 75 pounds of unwanted Andrew core, joined Core in 1986 as utive vice president. He had previously been with Exxon and Xerox.

Milford Academy in Connecticut recently awarded Ed Falkenberg its 1988 Founders plaque in recognition of his continued service to the school. He is currently a trustee of the Academy and served as chairman of the Milford capital drive from 1985 to 1988. Ed has another life as VP and controller of Joseph Seagram Company and has a family practice in Scarsdale, N.Y., with his wife, Pat (Mt. Holyoke '64), and son Christopher and daughter Merrill.

Ross Burkhardt performed one of his traveling slide shows on the class of '62 in the law offices of Paul Tsongas. Burkhardt, Tsongas, Giersch, Gordie Williamson, JackFitzgibbon, Gene Basbarro, Bill Sadd, DonSamuelson, and Peter Norstrand reviewed the diversity of life styles and individual fates of our classmates as captured by Ross on film and tape. Many of our classmates saw the production at our 25th... but for those who did not, it is a very moving documentary on the happenings of our 650 plus classmates 25 years out of the womb.

Ending on a very sad note, Don Ginter died on Christmas Day, 1987, after a long illness. Don was a dedicated neurologist who left behind two children, a mother, many devoted patients, friends, and classmates who appreciated his varied interests and energy. A full obituary will appear in the September issue.
