Becky Nyren Shepherdson, who can get no one (except me) to spell her new surname correctly, wrote recently to ask, "Can I still make the 'June Brides' issue?" Well, the answer, as you can see, was no. There was, um, no June issue, much less any brides to put in it. Not that the editors of this magazine told me anything about it beforehand, but that's another matter. On to the very first "July Brides" special feature.

Becky did, in fact, marry Dan Shepherdson (you wouldn't believe how difficult that name is to spell) last October 10. They met each other in law school and are both litigating merrily in Washington. And now, in the tradition made great and honorable by the New York Post's Suzy, I will print a list of the guests even though I was not there to confirm their presence: Cathy HaleyRost, Suzy Sudikoff Weixel, Barbie Anderson, Ann Minnich, Suzy Hopkins Axelson, Marji Grant, Cathy Costello Snook, and Bob and Lynne Hamel Gaudet.

Amy Beringer wrote to report the wedding of Pam Donovan and Jake Gehret. Amy admitted, with obvious embarrassment, that said nuptials occurred last July, allowing me the opportunity to feign shock and cry: "Honestly, how do they expect me to stay current if they only tell me about things a year after they happen?" And, regretfully, it would take several paragraphs to tell you about all the classmates who played into the night with the newly-united Gehret-Donovans.

Susan Papst Bowman sent a nice note writing, among other things, "Keep up the good work." Susan clearly has forgiven me for the time freshmen year when we faced the stereo speakers to the floor and blasted Aerosmith into her bedroom. More important, Susan had a baby girl, Kathryn Fraser, on February 10. She, husband David, and the new kid all are living in Belgium, where they will work through next summer with SHAPE and the American embassy.

Patsy Fisher was married last September 6 to Jeffrey Marc Harris in South Salem, N.Y. Patsy worked day and night at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and now is assistant marketing director for Deures in Washington. Jeffrey is a financial analyst with Financial Strategy Group.

Ken Holmes mentioned that Tom Taylor, characterized recently in this space as single, is, in fact, not. Ha, ha, ha. I knew that, of course. Tom is married to someone named Ruth Ann. I just wanted to see if anyone out there was reading, and Ken was.

As a prize, Ken gets his own recent marriage discussed in glorious, numbing detail. Ken wed Anne Brenner last September in Youngstown, Ohio. Ken had been slaving in Drexel Burnham's corporate finance wonderland since his graduation from Tuck three years ago. But he pined for the North Country so, after the wedding, he and Anne moved to North Sutton, N.H. There, Ken has started his own real estate development company.
