Here it is: the very first "All-Marriage" class notes. Except for Al Greenstein, every person in this month's column has been wed, oh, within the last year or so. If you're not married, you can almost forget about seeing your name here. Next month, I promise to write about people who have done other interesting things.
The really amazing news, I mean, the news you should sit down for, is that JennyToolin is now Mrs. Jenny Toolin. Or Mrs. Something. Jenny might have slipped this by me (i.e., her wedding announcement consisted of a pencil-scribbled postcript, "I married Tony McAuliffe in Princeton, Mass., October 31"), were it not for Hallidie Grant who wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to get her good friend discussed intelligently in print. Anyway, Jenny and Tony did, in fact, marry. A1 Greenstein was not invited to the ceremony. In fact, no one was invited: they just ran off to Princeton, got married, then sent all their friends nice postcards announcing the deed. Tony works for the Beal Cos. in Boston.
This month's handy tip on Things to Think About Before You Get Married on a Mountain comes from Dave Pine. Actually, it comes from Ellen Brout, who told me the story when I, a sleazy journalist type, asked her a question for a story that almost certainly has altered forever the course of the computer software industry. There is a very strong possiblity that Ellen will never speak to me again, but she did tell me this: Dave had planned to marry Debbie Cohen '83 atop Mt. Tamalpais on August 16. But, as Dave later conceded, the couple "failed to consult the Mayan calendar." A few days before the event, a concerned park ranger called: this being California, and August 16 being the date of the Harmonic Convergence and all, it seemed that several thousand worshippers were planning to join Dave and Debbie for a really great time on Tamalpais. The Pines hastily regrouped, and moved the ceremony to a divergent but very harmonic garden in Atherton.
Dave Plough, who now has set the '81 record for most mentions of the same wedding in the class notes, finally was married to Kim Stieve (Middlebury '81) on October 31. This is who came: Dawn Decker, Ms. Grant, Greg Jaeger, Tom Waterman, Pancho Ryan, Muffin Chamberlain-Donahoe,Bob Crowe, and Kim Young Moragne.
Note the appendage to Kim Young's name. Yes, Kim herself was wed on October 17 in Stanford, to John Hutchins Moragne '79. Kim is a partner with Spark Communications in San Francisco. John is with Bain, the consulting guys. There is a really great picture of Kim and John with the article, but unfortunately it's a xerox.
And Frank Cosolito married Nancy McSurely, back on July 18 in Auburndale, Mass. Apparently, Frank really wanted badly to appear in this column, because he had almost every newspaper in the country send me clips reporting the ceremony. And when I say, "almost every newspaper in the country," I mean two of them. Frank is sales manager for H&H Industrial Services, a manufacturer's rep firm. Nancy is an investment counselor with Constitution Capital Management.
Well. I know I'm exhausted. And I didn't even get to George McLaughlin, BillProom, Bill Barker and Joan Danziger. But I will. Congratulations to all.
