Sixteen Soviet undergraduates spent summer term in Hanover as part of a ground-breaking program that focuses on environmental studies. The students, who are from three Soviet universities, took classes in English, biology, geography and environmental science. Last spring 13 Dartmouth undergraduates attended Moscow State University under the same program.
"Environmental issues are one area where our two governments have sustained joint projects since 1972," said Dartmouth professor Dennis Meadows, a project organizer and the U.S. director of the Bilateral Project on Environmental Education.
