Several of our classmates attended Alumni College in Hanover during the summer, including Stet Whitcher who maintains his record of perfect attendance. He reports that the subject this year was "Perestroika, Glasnost, and the Lessons of History." Among those taking part in the program were Gard andEleanor Ashley, Joe Burnett, Vene andMary Bert Gutman, Bob and Crosbie MacMillen, John and Carla Manley, NickTurkevich, and Howie Zagor. Stet says it was a very busy and interesting 12 days, but they were not able to solve all of Mr. Gorbachev's problems. Next year the subject will be the environment, and Bob McGrath will be the director. Anyone who would like a stimulating vacation in Hanover in August should plan to attend.
We have just learned that John W.Stevens died on October 9 last year. He is survived by his wife, Katherine, six children and eight grandchildren.
