Ahh, December. The holiday month ... a time to reunite with friends and family . . . the scribes would like to wish you all a Healthy and Happy Holiday, tra-la-la . . . (Umm, excuse us. We don't know exactly how that schmaltzy greeting-card sentiment found its way into our column. We the writers would never be caught being sentimental it's entirely too uncool. So, like, your holiday is your own business, okay?) On to news.
Sue Ferguson, a recently promoted personnel supervisor at Coopers and Lybrand, is clearly destined for higher things. She has started at New York Law School at night, taking "one course less than a full load." (We will refrain from making the obvious joke about Sue having always been one course shy of a full load, and merely say "Congratulations, Sue!")
Those helpful folks at Developmental Research sent us a clipping from the Camden Courier-Post announcing another promotion: Harlan Kent has been elevated to director of strategic planning at the Campbell Soup Company. (We would never to stoop to the level of making the hokey "mm-mm-good job" reference. We're sure you appreciate our restraint.)
Jeff Johnson reports on basking in the California sun, playing a lot of beach volleyball, and becoming the perfect chiphead as a product marketing manager for National Semiconductor. (We want to know when the company will take the plunge and become International Fullconductor.)
Dan Studnicky was one of the three people at the National Zoo in D.C. not affected by the brief shutdown of the U.S. government over Columbus Day. See, Dan's not a federal employee; he's a fundraiser for FONZ, or Friends Of the National Zoo, a non-profit organization. Dan recently attended a black-tie function at the Air and Space Museum along with Mark Preston,Joanna Papadakous, and Lynn Fabrizio. Mark was recently mentioned in this space and has done nothing newsworthy since, so we will skip directly to Joanna. She is one of the quickly dying breed of '85s who have worked for the same company since graduation (First Investors in Boston). Lynn, on the other hand, has done the grad school thing, getting a master's in foreign service from Georgetown, and is now employed at the Commerce Dept. Rumanian Desk (which was presumably too critical to have been affected by the brief disruption of our government).
Have an adequate holiday, and we humbly suggest that one of your New Year's resolutions be "Keeping In Touch." See you in '91.
