Welcome to 1990 and the 45th anniversary of our intended graduation and a reminder 1991 brings the 45th Reunion and the anniversary of our matriculation. We will reune with the classes of 1946 and 1947, two classes which also had World War II attrition. Many of you finished your college careers with them and presumably have friends among them. It is not too early to talk of reunion and a reservation now ($45 per person) will bring a free video cassette of the 40th Reunion or a free copy of Dartmouth Nostalgia (the Glee Club and band tape from 1960). Send your check now to Ted Smith at 483 Franklin Street, Reading, MA 01867.

A joint phone call from Howie Germain and the Moose (Rowan) from the former's home at Hilton Head brought the happy news that Roseanne Germain has recovered well from her 1988 surgery, and neither suffered any damage from Hurricane Hugo at their respective homes. There was also a standoff in a weekend two-match golf tournament. Moose was on the loose while Joan was visiting family in England before returning to North Carolina for their 45th wedding anniversary celebration. Is anyone ahead of them?

John Phelps is active and well in Venezuela and in August he married Ana Maria Velasquez, an officer of one of that country's leading banks. Frank Aldrich had dinner in late October with the Phelpses and expressed appreciation for John's help and advice for Frank's new bank in Curacao as well as his knowledge of Venezuela and its role in the world.

Bill McNeely retired from marketing consulting in July and has moved from Libertyville, I11., to Coral Gables, Fla., where he is hoping to provide B&B (that is bed and breakfast and not brandy and benedictine) facilities for classmates. Bill reported a real problem in selling his Illinois home and hopefully by this time he is a one-home owner.

The Mail Call reports that Sylvia Reed, widow of john, carried the '45 banner alone at Dartmouth night. Congratulations and thanks to her; even though the mini-reunion has moved to an earlier date, if you are in the Hanover area for that weekend in 1990 give Sylvia a hand and help make up a representative '45 delegation.

Our sincere condolences go to the families of three classmates who recently died. They are Al Ungar, an active executive committee member for many years and former head class agent; Russ Stryker, a friend from all-night heeler duty on the Daily D and a loyal alumnus; and Frank Elias, a friend whose love of Dartmouth and contacts with classmates helped him through a life that had more than its share of adversity.

As the new decade begins and we have two significant reunions coming before the twenty-first century, consider strong support of Dartmouth and especially in joining your classmates for some of the planned gatherings. And for now: Think Spring!
