Today's my lucky day. I sat down to write this month's column, quickly ran out of things to say, and picked up the Sunday paper. Procrastinating when I'm short on news is not unusual. However, this week my procrastination led to inspiration, as the Chicago Tribune's Tempo Woman section featured a familiar face SallySchwartz!

Sally will be married to Tim Higginson, a Harvard alumnus and student at the U. of Chicago Law School. Prior to grad school, Tim had been with the International Energy Agency in Paris and Hughes Aircraft's Space and Communications Group in El Segundo, Calif.

The article about Sally and Tim was terrific. It talked all about how Sally earned her master's from Northwestern, was a photo editor for Woman's Day and assistant photo editor for Outside magazine, and is currently an English teacher at Highland Park High School—her alma mater! It also provided a lot of interesting background on Tim. Tim is a descendant of Nathanial Bowditch, a nineteenth Century U.S. navigation author who for several years was president of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He's also a descendant of Thomas Wentworth Higginson, an American author who commanded the first black Union regiment during the Civil War, and later discovered and encouraged poet Emily Dickinson.

My apologies to Gary Ryan and especially to her fiance, Rocco Laterzo. When I first mentioned their upcoming nuptials, I spelled his first name incorrectly and had not yet learned his last name. Now that I have the whole scoop I can correct my mistakes and add some details! Rocco graduated from Lafayette College in 1985. He and Gary met shortly thereafter and have been dating ever since. In May, he'll be graduating form Wharton—just prior to their wedding on June 30!

Gary's planning to go to business school next year-either Kellogg or Columbia-depending on Rocco's final job choice. They're very excited about their wedding plans and possible move to the Chicago area. Kate Lauer, Gayle Gilman, and Gary's sister Liza are the Dartmouth folks in their wedding party.

I've heard about a couple of other classmates in rather roundabout ways, so I hope all this information is correct. After graduating from U. of Cincinnati Law School, Eric Kearney joined Strauss & Troy, a Cincinnati law firm. Eric will concentrate in litigation and commercial transactions. Tyler Lindblad recently left Harris to work for Heller Financial in their leverage funding June 2 to Julie in the Los Angeles area. He is currently at Columbia Law. Pete Blum has made his move to Florida and is now an editor for the Naples Daily News.

For those of you who have been following Scott Borek's career as a hockey coach, you may recall that last year was a tough one. Brown had a 1-25 record. This year, in part due to Scott's excellent recruiting, Brown made the ECAC playoffs! Next year looks promising for Scott and Brown, since only two seniors will be graduating.

Our upcoming reunion has inspired a few people to pick up the phone and dial my number. Tom Kinney called from his office in Newport Beach to tell me that he's planning to make the trip. Greg LaSonde resides in the Chicago area—Wilmette to be precise —and he's planning to go, too. Greg has recently gotten involved in the Chicago Young Alumni Club and plans to rally the locals. He's helping to initiate a get-together on the first Thursday of every month at The Corner Pocket on Halsted, Steve Solbel's ('86) new bar. (It's a great place!) Greg's also setting up a July booze cruise.

Jeff Slack says he'll be at the reunion. He is working for a sports marketing company in Washington, D.C. Though he'd only been on the job for three weeks at the time of our conversation, he seems to love it and have many interesting projects. Rich andLee Anne Stoddart have already bought their plane tickets.

Who knows? At this rate, maybe we will break a class record for fifth-year reunion attendance. It's sure to be a great time. Hope to see you there.
