Approximately 11 months from now 1945's 45th Reunion will take place in Hanover and the committee is looking for a large number of you to make early reservations and to show up on June 10-13. We will be joining the classes of 1946 and 1947. At the class officers meeting in April (attended by all officers except the secretary) plans were reviewed by the committee, Bob Paulson, Chairman SteveHull, and Ted Smith and the other officers. The more of us who attend the better it will be, so sign up now.
Vic Smith is so busy in his retirement that he does not have time to do things he intended to do. In addition to serving for the past ten years as head class agent (generally successfully except when the Review causes the national media to storm the campus). Vic has served on the zoning board of adjustment in Haverhill, N.H., as well as village moderator. He and Vosta are very active in their local church, where they occasionally preach, and he is involved with a small hospital in nearby Woodsville. Another source of satisfaction is his role as a consultant to the Turner Construction Company pension committee, which means occasional trips to New York which happens to be close to children and grandchildren.
The spring edition of Dartmouth Medicine, the medical school magazine, featured pictures of Fletch McDowell and FredPlum at a development program reception in New York hosted by Fletch. The latter is chairing a fundraising effort for the medical education building in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center now under construction.
Bud and Doe Morris are very happy with their move to the Santa Fe area in mid-1989 since they are both very interested in the Hispanic and Indian cultures of the area. However, even there winter inspires a trip to the warmer weather of the Bahamas. Bud is attempting to write a novel about the culture of the area and he has a classmate available as a critic. Evan Connell also lives in Santa Fe, where he continues to write as well as to consult on motion pictures and TV productions made from some of his prior books.
John Ormond continues to practice law in New Orleans and also serves as county notary as well as overseeing investments in Mexico. John lives in Mandeville, La., on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain and has an interesting 24-mile commute by cause- way into the city.
Nick Sandoe provided some incentive for attendance at our 70th Reunion. He drove his father (also Nick) and Spider Martin of the class of 1919 to a dedication of the Joseph W. Martin Jr. (brother of Spider) Institute for Law and Society at Stonehill College in North Easton, Mass. The building preserves the papers of the longtime Speaker of the House and the Institute encourages public service. A significant fact is that both of Nick's passengers had attended their 70th reunion in June 1989. Nick and Mary are very happy to be in the East again after 22 years, and especially in Hanover.
When George Barr writes you about the September mini-reunion, get your reservations back early. Every year more classmates are showing up and it will be a great prelude to the June reunion. Have a wonderful rest of summer.
