After what seemed to be a summer of endless rain, fog, and clouds, it is hard to realize that when you read this 1986 will be just about over and we will be looking forward to an early 1987 spring. Even less understandable is a recent comment from a Harvard official talking about the 350 th anniversary and the alumni attending who said that there were representatives of many older classes, even the class of 1945. Perhaps loyalty to Harvard stops at a voung age or its alumni age early.
Bv now you should have received class dues notices from John Osborn, our very diligent class treasurer. You can make his job easier by paying the dues forthwith, and you can make both the secretary's and George Barr's jobs simpler by providing news of yourself on the back of the bill. John is very efficient in forwarding the news to both of us. As more classmates retire or plan retirement with moves to warm climates, either the newsletter or this column can provide information so that '4ss can meet for golf, tennis, bridge, or sociability in a new community. As John pointed out, we belong to one of the most exclusive clubs in the world, and the dues notice is an easy way to provide news of your acitivies.
Recently I had a pleasant meeting with Scott and Pam Bundy and their infant son, Ross, who is Harry Hampton's first grandchild. Needless to say, grandfather in no way is spoiling him. Harry is not resting in retirement. In addition to visits with Ginny and caring for his mother, he has become very involved with support groups for families of Alzheimer's disease victims. He also is designing furniture appropriate for patients with that and similar problems.
Mo Fry, who is very active in the real estate business in Boston in the firm of Street and Company (Street being our classmate Bud Street), recently received praise in a Boston newspaper for having been the broker in the sale of a Beacon Hill home for one of the highest prices
ever paid. The article also stated, Neither Frye nor [buyer] are fountains of information on the subject." That is Mo's legal training.
The news has run out, which is one reason for you to furnish more when you pay your dues. In New England we are cheering for the Red Sox, and hopefully a lot of you will have cheered for their hoped-for World Series victory, which is long overdue. The Baltimore and Hanover mini-reunions will have been, and BobPaulson is hoping that their success will inspire more of you to attend similar occasions planned for 1987 and subsequent years leading to the 1991 reunion. All of us are hoping too for a year of tranquility on the Hanover campus, and, even more so, peace in the world.
