As the days turn cool and the leaves begin to turn, one can only Be reminded of those carefree days on the Hanover Plain, skipking off to French drill... or skipping French drill. Does anyone else still dream that they're missing an exam? I really miss school.
Enough of this idle chit-chat. Let's get on to some moving chit-chat.
First the baby-boomers. Mark and Jenny Clayton became the proud parents of Zachary in January. Judging from the photo that accompanied their note, I'd say Zachary may be ready to help Buddy and the Big Green before the turn of the century. Kent and Sheila Kay Cooper are doing their own recruiting as well, having added Ross Gordon Cooper to their team in March. Coop, Sheila, Sally, and Ross are living in Austin where Kent is doing research for Motorola and Sheila is doing her best to balance the budget for the Texas State Treasury.
It's been a busy summer for Rob Olsson. In June, Ols graduated from the Kellogg School of Management with a concentration in marketing and finance. One month after that he was married in Princeton, N.J. Joining in on the fun was most of the Kappa Sig nation, including ushers Jeff Bechler and Andy Sanford, John Funk, John Strawn, Steve Stone, Mike Donaghue, George Thompson, Rob Carroll, Ben Tongue, V.J. Dowling, Rand Stephens, and Eric Miller. Legal aliens in attendance were Steve Gleason, Tom Shanahan, Jim Golden, Bob Garry '80 and his wife, Leigh Miller Garry '84.
A number of '82s are rapidly climbing to the top of their chosen professions. Craig Bradley has left his assistant dean's post in Hanover for the top job at Kenyon College in Ohio. As Kenyon's dean of students, Craig will be responsible for the "general welfare" of 1,500 students. I'm very afraid.
Prelaw, premed, what's the difference? Dr. Andrew Searcy is completing his internship in pediatric medicine at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Andy graduated from Pittsburg Medical School in 1987. George Thompson graduated from Suffolk Law School in 1989 and is now an associate with the Worcester, Mass., firm of Mirick, O'Connell, DeMallie & Lougee. The law degree is George's third, having also earned a master's in criminal justice from American International in 1984.
That just about does it from the news desk. Stay tuned to this same column for more birthing news next month and maybe some recipes for the upcoming Tailgate '9O.
