Among this month's news is word that Carl Soderland, who is the medical director of the North Shore Comprehensive Care Unit P.C., a multispecialty group practice located in Ipswich, Beverly, and Danvers, Mass., recently became a full partner of the organization. He practices internal medicine in the group's Ipswich office. In addition to retaining his role as medical director of the group, he became a voting member on its board of directors.
Jim Smith is the president and chief executive officer of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Waterbury. Among his other activities, he is the director of St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury and chairman of its $5- million fundraising campaign, a member and former trustee of the Waterbury Foundation, and an incorporator, past president, and former director of the Anderson Boys' Club. He is also a former director of the United Way and, as campaign chairman in 1987, was the first to raise more than $2 million. Jim's other past activities include serving as chairman of the Olympic Torch Day Committee, bringing the Olympic Torch through Waterbury in 1984, and raising $50,000 for the Anderson Boys' Club in the process.
Jonathan Wolken, co-founder of Pilobolus Dance Theatre, performed with the group earlier this year at the Palace Theatre in Columbus, Ohio. Future projects for the group may include an evening-length Pilobolus version of James Joyce's Finnegan's Wake and portrayal of Ovid's Metamorphoses.
Sam Cuddeback was appointed head of Drew College Preparatory School in San Francisco. Fie was dean of students at Lick Wilmerding High School in San Francisco for six years. Prior to that, he was director of admissions at Tabor Academy in the Boston area.
