Where are Jenny Hanley and Jean Gleason? The normal replies ("Uh, Jenny's somewhere in Canada, and jean's doing something after getting an M.B.A. from U Chicago . . . Uh . . . ") are no longer acceptable. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

assistant director of annual giving at Duke University and also worked two years as assistant fund director at Vassar College. A spokesman for Bowdoin said, "We are delighted to have someone with Grace's capability and experience." My boss never said that about me.

I cannot help but quote directly from MariaOlsen's letter which just arrived serendipitously Maria works at CNN on assignment in the Soviet Union. In her own words, "Life's offered me some exciting moments lately. I was in the Soviet DisUnion, reporting on the changes taking place for CNN's Special Reports Unit. Of course, my life got harried a bit when the coup started. Basically, any footage you saw shot during the coup was where I was told 'We've just learned they are probably going to attack the White House. You .. . need to go there. Here, take this bullet-proof vest and gas mask. Sorry we don't have enough to go around. You'll have to go without. Take a water-soaked towel instead.'"

Yowzah, Maria. You're making me ashamed to be spending my Sundays watching NFL football. What's next for our intrepid reporter? "China, Africa, Indonesia... what can I say? I ain't making investment banker bucks, but I'm having more fun than they are." Why, ain't that the truth. Great letter.

Ronald Brody belatedly makes his first appearance in this column. Hooray! Ronald's armed with a J.D. from U. Chicago and practices law in Washington, D.C. Incidentally, Ronald's father (Morton) has been nominated to a federal judgeship by President Bush.

The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, the tortellini was bubbling, and in general there was a harmonic convergence in Greenwich, Conn., September 7-8. That date, of course, will hold a place in history, for it marks the wedding of Pete Cholnoky and Jennifer Tilghman '89, who goes by the brilliant sobriquet "Fox." How do you summarize something like this? My wife, Andrea, suggested I start from the beginning. "Noky would like it that way."

OK. In the beginning there were dinosaurs. Then the earth cooled and they turned into oil. The Arabs discovered this, got rich, and bought Mercedes Benzes. Well, no, that's not exactly what happened.

The entire weekend was a blast. The ushers perfected something called the "Ohio State formation," which basically involved a viselike maneuver around Noky and Fox. The rehearsal dinner featured thousands of lamb chops and toasts. The ushers were issued "Mont Blanc" charge cards. "Last call" at the hotel that night took three-and-a-half hours. The ushers' morning suits, happily, were made of spandex.

The reception featured great food, great music, and a lovely setting at Round Hill. There were plenty of '83s serving as eyewitnesses, including Chip and Patti Greene (just back from Alaska, and about to celebrate their 4th anniversary), Peter and Patti Ann Farrar (clinging to Red Sox pennant hopes), Will, Libby, and John Cattan (John's getting larger and larger), Nick Roberts, Lang and KrisDavison, the Hojos, and probably many more.

Special note to Mrs. Cholnoky You put on a wonderful show. We'll all remember this weekend for a long, long rime.
