I forgot to mention that Laura and Gary Dicovitsky had their second daughter in early September. Gary may be taking this "father of our class" thing too far. Some news as advertised in last month's column:
"Seasons greetings from your west coast correspondent, Bill Price. Without fall colors or frosty mornings it's hard to tell what season it is here, but at least we don't have to shovel it.
"Some news from West-of-the-Cascades. • Thurm Lowans and Judy extended their reunion vacation to see Dick Donohue Helen, and their three kids at the Old North Bridge (now was that Concord or Lexington??), and report that although Dick was busy in a major lawsuit and had to miss the reunion, all s well with Dick, who's still toiling at Baker, Mackenzie in Chicago. Thurm wonders if any other '72ers can match their numbers: 27- and 30-year old sons? Meanwhile, in Bremerton, Wash., Thurm is working on expanding his pro-tem judgeship to a permanent calling (after Clarence's grilling?), still plays Navy Reserve (including two recent stints in Europe), arranges for Ivy football results to run in the local papers, and invites all to visit the Lowans arboretum, which contains more than 50 rhododendrons!
"Down the coast in Portland, Jeff Bock reports that he is alive and well, keeping Perkins, Cole law firm away from recent hightech company fatalities in the area. Jeff's renewed bachelor days include treks to Bend, where horseback riding and skiing draw lots of Oregonians.
"My little company, ACP, was so successful developing network voice response products for MCI that they made us an offer we couldn't refuse, so I'm now responsible for marketing, software engineering, and operations of the Enhanced Voice Services Department of MCI. We're still HQ'd in San Francisco with customers nationwide, so I hope to catch up with many classmates in the months to come. Moving from a 120-person outfit to a $8-billion place is certainly a change, but we're trying hard to remain entrepreneurial and take on as few rules and routines as possible. Trudi, Erika (2.7 years old now), and I put 4,000 miles on our mini-van (which we resisted buying at first, but now use all the time) visiting Trudi's relatives in Idaho, Seattle, and Portland and camping on British Columbia's tranquil Vancouver Island. I'm still playing men's soccer every Sunday (it just takes two days to recover instead of one), running with jogging stroller and/or two Siberian huskies (or should I say, pulled by two huskies?), and occasionally playing golf. A revival of the annual golf tourney with Dennis Cullen and Peter Heed, hatched late one night at the Dunkin Donuts in West Lebanon during Reunion, is in the air.
"That's it this month from your west coast correspondent... more news as it breaks."
