The class of 1921 returned to Dartmouth for its 70th reunion with seven members present and thereby tied with die class of 1919, which set the record for the most members back for their 70th in 1989. Those who came: Ralph Baker, Robert P. Burroughs, E. Vance Clark, Arthur W. Gilber, Orton Hicks Sr., Jack Hubbell, and DeWitt Mallary.
Furthermore the class of 1921 won an award for having the largest number of supporters back for their reunion wives, widows, children and close friends. Their enjoyment was enhanced by the sunny, breezy and clear perfect Hanover weather. They had rooms in the Inn, in the Lodge, and for those who wanted more comfort (and for the first time), in Dick's House.
They had an assembly room in the Hanover Inn, and a dining room to themselves on the same floor. When they got together they were entertained not only by the inevitable reminiscences, but by Orton Hicks Jr.'s piano playing. In the evening there were movies of their college days.
On Saturday they joined the banquet luncheon in the Alumni Gym with the other reuning classes, and after being the first in the procession before graduation, and being given the best seats, they met again for a luncheon at the house where Ellis Briggs had lived.
From there they said their farewells.
As a matter of fact, the Hicks family was foremost throughout the entire weekend inasmuch as granddaughter Victoria Hicks had taken over following the untimely death of Blair Watson in April all of the stage management for the video displays: copies of the Dartmouth, Aegis, posters and class movies dating back to 1926! A superb class manager!
