Dear Gang - The mail bag contained several interesting letters this month and let's begin with a very welcome one from Rick Shambroom. The erstwhile bachelor writes that he's working for the McCall Corporation and specifically is Merchandise Manager of Redbook Magazine - he's doing creative marketing, promotional writing and contact work with advertising agency people. Rick says that on weekends, he does a lot of skiing and is teaching in the Mt. Snow Ski School; for the past five years he's been a member of the Canadian Ski Instructors' Alliance and this past December he was up at Val David, Quebec, and earned his Maple Leaf Pin, which is the highest professional certification in ski instruction. Good to hear from you, Rick.... The next letter comes from George Hilton who is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Stanford University. George writes that in June he returned to the London School of Economics (where he did his thesis from 1953 to 1955) for five months to do further research. He tells while working one day in the British Museum Newspaper Library, he happened to spot a very "Ivy dressed" American and after striking up a conversation found that the individual was Jim Winter '47, brother of Bob Winter of our class. In November, George returned to the States and before going back to California he spent several days in Hanover where he delivered a paper before the Economics Department. Ed Kirkland, who was visiting his parents in Thetford, was in the audience to hear him. George's zeal for remaining a bachelor has been and I quote "suitably recognized" as he has just recently been elected president of the Stanford faculty bachelors club. Nice to hear from you, George.... Welles Fendrich, who most of us remember as "Chuck," writes a very newsy letter to bring us up to date on his recent happen- ings. His wife, Bobbie, is a Smith graduate ('48), they have three children and are now living in Princeton, N.J., having moved there from Glen Head, N.Y., in the spring of 1959'. Chuck is with Stewart, Dougall and Associates, consultants in marketing management and are marketing research specialists; he is an Associate on the consulting staff and specializes in industrial marketing. Chuck ran into Freddie Wightman, who also lives in Princeton but commutes to New York City and also recently saw his old roommate Bill Bailey '47 and wife at the Princeton-Dartmouth game. Bill is at Aetna Casualty in Hartford. Chuck's son - Chuck Jr. is only seven but already Chuck has him interested in the ice as he took the lad to see the Big Green beat the Tigers in hockey the other day. Nice to hear from you, Chuck.

The last letter comes from Sandy Treat's mother who brings us up to date on Sandy's traveling. He and wife Marion and their three children were up from Caracas, Venezuela, for several months and spent the bulk of the time at Ste. Agathe, Quebec, in the Lauren tians for some skiing. Sandy has been in Venezuela for two years as President of a Venezuelan subsidiary of Aluminium, Ltd. While down there, he helped form the Dartmouth Club of Caracas and would welcome any visits from any '46ers down that way. His address is as follows: Sanford M. Treat Jr., Alcan de Venezuela, S.A., Av. Principal El Bosque, Edif. Viulma of 2 Caracas, Venezuela. Certainly nice to hear from you, Mrs. Treat, and we sure wish we had the chance to be in Caracas to look Sandy up....

Wedding Bells - Bob Wenzel took the big step in November to Sandra Wilcox of North Miami, Fla., in Washington, D.C. Sandra's brother, George Wilcox (who incidentally is with Scott Paper in Chester, Penna., outside of Philly) was an usher and the couple honeymooned in Bermuda. The bride is a graduate of Oberlin College and Bob has been with the foreign service of the State Department for a number of years after getting his Master's degree from Tuck School - Congrats to you both!

Doug Leigh has recently been named art director for the New York office of the Chicago advertising agency of Needham, Louis, and Brorby. Doug had previously served as senior art director for the Kudner Agency; art director of MacManus, John, and Adams' New York office; and an art director of the Campbell-Ewald Co. During World War II he served as a staff sergeant in the European theater of operations. Doug and his wife, the former Nance Wheelwright, are currently living in Weston, Conn.

Hither and Yon - Lt. Commander Bob Ferris is in the office of Submarine and Reactor Parts of the Navy in Mechanicsburg, Penna., and is living at New Cumberland, Penna.... Dr. Rog Lochhead is practicing medicine and living in Montclair, N. J.. Johnny Condit is over in Crown Point, Ind., and up in the state of Minnesota are Dick Blades in Hopkins and Johnny McClintock at Northfield.

That's it - '46 up! "Gus"
