Here's the latest on '45s in the San Francisco Bay area: Hunt Bennett lives in San Francisco. He married his second wife, Ann, 15 years ago and retired from Newsweek five years later. He and Ann travel a lot to Europe and Asia, and Hunt plays golf regularly at Olympic. His main claim to fame is that he still has all his hair!

Jim Eckels lives in Burlingame and still runs his own process equipment company because he enjoys it and his good health permits it. His son John '74 is an M.D. Maybe that explains Jim's good health. Jim's three children have provided two grandsons, and his current hobby is building and flying radio-controlled model airplanes with wing spans of over five feet.

Arthur "Nick" Nichols has lived in San Rafael for 26 years, but he may move to a smaller place if the real-estate market warms up. Having recently completed a two-year term as president of the Marin County Chamber of Commerce, Nick is now writing a mystery novel when he and Terry aren't traveling or playing golf.

Marge Samilson lives in Tiburon, has a sweeping view from Angel Island to Mt. Tamalpais, and gets my vote for one of the most active and adventurous members of our '45 family. Marge travels the world practicing photography, going places where the subjects are unusual and where the Hilton syndrome hasn't settled in. She just returned from the Antarctic and is about to leave for the Arctic, where her subjects will be polar bears. Last year it was Burma, which was just like it's always been—full of unusual photographic opportunities. Marge exhibits her photos and has a greeting card business. She is also active in the Bay Area museums. Marge's eight grandchildren have one great role model.

Dick Lewis has the perfect setup. As an owner-representative for a vacation exchange organization, he gets to attend meetings in some great spots: Puerto Vallarta, Vail, and Las Vegas just this year. Also, Dick and Esther just returned from a trip to Alaska. Their three children all live in the Bay Area, so the Lewises don't want for activity when they're home.

TedMcCrum is back working parttime on several medical projects but continues to keep in prime shape with his outdoor activities: kayaking in the Bay, hiking and skiing in the mountains. His daughter lives in Marin; his son is a brewer (not with Coors) in Boulder, Colo. For a quieter sport, the McCrums have taken up duplicate bridge and love it. They're also studying Spanish in preparation.for a trip south of the border.

That's all the space we're allowed. More from me in February. Nick Nichols and led McCram helped me call the 23 classmates on our list. We reached 13 and will pass on to Moose the scoop on any that I don't get to in the next issue. Smooth sailing and snug harbors to all.
