Rev. George Sherman Mills, D.D., of Chicago has been elected as a delegate to the National Congregational Council at Seattle, and he and his wife will leave Chicago for that city in the special train June 22. They plan to be absent through July and to visit San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and other places, including the Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. George has been made moderator of the Chicago Congregational Association of Churches for 1931-2. He is also the president of the Congregational Ministers' Union, being the first to hold both positions simultaneously.
Senator George Higgins Moses was in Chicago the last week in March, speaking at an anniversary dinner before the Union League club. The following noon, Hilton arranged a luncheon at the same club and invited the '9O men in Chicago and vicinity to be his guests, in honor of the senator. They were all there, Cheney, Holmes, Nutt, Mills, and Hilton. In addition there was a little group of political and financial "bigwigs," associates of Moses in Washington, and some friends in Chicago, Senators Deneen and Glenn of Illinois, Roy West, Republican national committeeman, Walter Head, bank president, and a few others. The senator gave a little talk in his best vein, humorous and kindly. And in the general conversation afterwards, those present got some of the inside story of Washington and the prospects for the next campaign. It was a most interesting and enjoyable affair.
