At a dinner hosted by the College during an early May Class Officers Weekend, BillMontgomery was presented with a most deserved award, the Distinguished Alumni Award. This award is given for service not only to Dartmouth, but also to the community and the nation. At another dinner, this one at the Dartmouth Club of Philadelphia's annual meeting a couple of weeks later, I sat next to Bill Davis, who was there with his daughter Helen Davis Peters '79. Bill has retired from fulltime municipal planning but is active with special assignments from towns, townships, and other political entities.

Don Campbell wrote that he and his wife, Carolyn, were now semi-annual commuters between their Cincinnati home, and Lake San Marcos in San Diego (Calif.) County. Golf is a prime objective all year 'round for Don, but, with their children living in both states, the commute is a pleasure. Don also wrote that last summer they visited Nancy and CebBenisch for a few days in Manhasset, N.Y., and had a reunion with many old friends, including Kay and Tyler Dann. In a report about tie other side of die world, Jack Foster wrote of a marvelous trip he and Sally took to New Zealand with Al Riegelman, who was a super tour guide through remote and beautiful parts of the South Island.

Don Meyers won again. This time he brought Eleazar's Tavern in first in the Duke's Trophy Regatta at the St. John Yacht Club for his initial win in that race. He took Duke's Trophy in February; then in March, Eleazar'sTavern won the non-spinnaker division of the race around St. John.

In a less happy report, Roy Wikstrom wrote from Odessa, Texas, of the severe difficulties in West Texas for the past decade, and of his strong displeasure with the political events and economic decline during the past Republican administrations. His hope that Dartmouth would host the Democratic primary was unfulfilled. His note was written before Ross Perot's entry into the race, and one must wonder about the West Texas attitude toward the probable Texan candidate.

Dartmouth Medicine again provided word of a classmate. Larry Wilson and his wife, Ellen, are living in Evanston, Ill., where Larry is an anesthesiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a faculty member at Nordrwestern Medical School. Their daughter graduated from Dartmouth this year.
