Some of us are wanderers, and some stay put. There aren't many steamer trunks in the Rosenblatt attic; Fred has never had a long-term address outside of Minneapolis. Except Hanover, of course, and we're very glad for that. Fred was born, raised, and schooled in Minnesota; and after Dartmouth and law school in Michigan, he defied that old saw and did go home again. He joined the law firm of Leonard Street & Deinard in 1969, and he has worked right there ever since.
Fred may be deeply rooted, but he's no stick in the mud. His undergraduate interest in medieval and renaissance history is alive and well, and he is an inveterate reader and a director of the Hennepin County History Museum, Hennepin Center for the Arts, and the Minnesota College of Art and Design. His interest in theater has led him beyond the footlights to impor- tant roles in the development of the Guthrie and Jeune Lune theater groups. He writes a column in the Minnesota Real Estate Journal. And there is the YMCA and the finance committee of his son's school, and . . . and . . .
And Dartmouth. Fred has been a class agent, assistant head agent, an enrollment worker, club secretary and president of the Alumni Association of the Northwest, a member of the Campaign for Dartmouth Leadership Committee, and a member of the Alumni Council and its president. He is a man of wit and wisdom, thought and action. Activity, too. Yup, that's Fred Rosenblatt on the tennis and squash courts, skiing and roller-blading around the lake! His many strengths are nourished and supported by his wife, Cynthia, and his athletic son, Hart, who are also firmly rooted Minnesotans.
It is clear that though Fred's roots lie deep in Minnesota, he has equally long branches- Green, of course—that reach all the way to Hanover. Fred has served his fellow man most abundantly and his alma mater most welcomely. We are most pleased to present him with the Dartmouth Alumni Award.
